  • whatever happened to that news about a Korean male synth? everyone was talking about it and then it just fell out of conversation.
i'm not very k-pop oriented but Red Velvet songs are *chefs kiss*. their music sounds like all the best pop songs of the 90s but with an extra energy boost. my kinda vibe

I love Red Velvet!!! They're practically the only kpop group I follow anymore but I've stayed this long because those girls have the vocal range like no other kpop gg :mirai_ani_lili:

ikr, i love their voices! the adlibs they do are so cool, especially Wendy's, her range is incredible.

man i really should get a NND account. its so frustrating finding a really good small producer on NND and not being able to follow them because they don't have a Youtube.

yeah the new UI feels really nice. i also like how people on NND are more chill and close knit in the Vocaloid community as opposed to Youtube. (i just wish there weren’t so many annoying ads that i can’t understand lol)

yes!! i always liked the feel on NND more too, it's not a very critical or pressuring environment, and you rarely ever see mean comments on videos (at least from google translate + my almost nonexistent japanese). not having a puplicly displayed liking feature is interesting too, but i kind of like it because it relieves competition / pressure on if or how many people thought your video was "good". If they really REALLY liked it, they'd comment or mylist it :)

the ads and higher video quality is something you can get when you become a premium member, plus unlimited video posts. i've been sticking with standard for so many years i almost feel like i deserve premium lmao.

do you use desktop or mobile to watch NND? i used to only use desktop but the NND mobile app is really well layed out too and now i almost use it more than the desktop!!

as you can see i am a VERY passionate NND > youtube girl :)))

i usually watch it on desktop, especially to sort of “window shop” for new songs while i work. the only problem with that is that i’m always clicking on thumbnails that i find interesting, so sometimes i neglect my work haha

speaking of that, i also like how NND will advertise songs to you and recommend you videos with a similar amount of views. Youtube does a similar thing sometimes but for the most part it recommends really old Vocaloid stuff or music that i’ve already heard. i wonder how the algorithms differ on both sites.

one of my friends just tried to convince me that video games “can’t be played by old people”. the audacity.

time to call out everyone on this site

    They forgot the single-character stan.
    - Super attached to just one or a few Vocaloids. May have others that they like, but will constantly and consistently go back to their favourite(s).
    - Constantly churns out fan art/fan fiction/headcanons of them
    - Fills their social media with content of them, and just won't shut up about how great that Vocaloid is
    - Gets super excited when they find someone else who likes that Vocaloid, particularly if it's a less popular one
    ...I'm calling myself out here, aren't I?
    ~story time~
i found an artist recently that i really like. they have an upbeat electronica sorta sound with a robotically filtered vocal on each one of the tracks. the artist is anonymous, and their 'mascot' is a little robot making music for the world to get happier, which is why they have artificial sounding vocals. really cute concept imo. but my point is: my brother was over at my house earlier to visit and work on some stuff; he poked his head in when he heard one of the songs by this artist coming from my PC speakers. (this was before the vocals started). when the vocals did start we went like this:

him: "oh! so this is a Vocaloid song?"
me: "no its just a voice with effects put on it to sound artificial"
    him: "...so a Vocaloid song?"
    me: "..?"

i guess he thinks "Vocaloid" means a niche anime version of autotune or something? I explained that its probably just a real voice and that Vocaloid works off of prerecorded samples, but i still don't think he completely understands. the amount of misunderstandings ive seen people have about what the word 'vocaloid' means is astonishing to me lololol
I've decided to keep my producer account and general/fandom account separate from each other. generally I've found that, when someone's art and personality are in the same vessel, it can get hard to follow them for one or the other thing (unless they're an actor or idol or something along those lines). in other words, i'm not gonna post music or art online as Andantina. anonymity is one of my favorite parts of the Vocal synth community and I think I'd have a better relationship with it if I organized my online presence more discreetly. that being said, that doesn't mean you're never gonna hear my work! you'll just not know if its me or not oooooo spooky--

for real though, I'm sorry if anyone was looking forward to hearing my music on here ;-; maybe someone will find my alter ego and share something I've made on Music Releases? who knows!
i just had to show a finished project to my music production class on Zoom and they all really liked it..!!!

it's one of the first times i've shown a finished project to anyone, god forbid a class of 15 people lolol

    i'm so happy:lapis_ani_lili:
