  • Honest question for you guys. Would you be less likely to go to a vocaloid concert if they didn't use Pepper's Ghost and used very well done cosplay instead?

I'd never go to a concert where Miku would have been replaced by a person. Like mobius said, projections are the truest appearance of the characters' in the minds of many, me included. Since they aren't physical beings to begin with, cosplay would be just pretending. They'd be just a person in a costume, not the Vocaloid.
Also, most Vocaloids' official art is "anime style" (and that's what fans consider their appearance is), that's simply impossible for a real person to replicate.
I also believe a Miku cosplayer wouldn't be able to perform as well as Miku projection can in terms of flawlessness and "purity" of movement.

Maybe. I was thinking maybe if there was a Vocaloid Concert in VR, it would be more interactive. I had plans with VRArt1 to produce a Vocaloid Concert in real life but I'm waiting until Megaplex has an Anime Theme.
I did have permission years ago (2012 if I'm correct, it was in my High School) but I asked CFM again for Non-Profit permission a year ago and they haven't replied.

Honestly I feel like cosplay would be
    a) hard to see
    and
    b) just come off as very lame and low budget.
Looks like we're getting a english voicebank for Stardust on SynthV

@Exemplar that would be so cool. Just today I thought about how sad I am that they chose to make Stardust part of a group which automatically makes it harder to giver her a reason to have more languages. Back when she was released I was excited for maybe english and japanese voicebanks and now thought we never get them. Well, guess I'm wrong!

The chart says "Stardust/ZERO 中 (Chinese)" but it also says "Stardust/ZERO 英 (English)". I wonder if they will also be putting her Chinese voice into Synth V? What if it was like a separate voice bank or something (like Vivid or Sweet type of deal). My Chinese isn't good, so it's hard for me to get through the Weibo page. Maybe if I go back to it and gradually try to read stuff. OTL

Wait, so they're planning to move Stardust from Vocaloid to SynthV at some point?
So Maximum The Hormone composed a song for Kaguya Luna's noodle commercial? Sounds pretty on the mark for her and i'm not surprised one bit
BiliBili has their 4th quarter earnings call tonight (which is in english because it's exchanged on Nasdaq). I guess i'm so desperate for v5 bank news I might consider listening in or finding the transcript later.

Their 3rd quarter call from back in november talked a bit about them buying a majority stake in VSinger
Bilibili is now one of the largest producer and broadcaster of documentary in China. Additional content such as our first half produced show variety show Star Men 2 is also resonating well with many users. Being a community for young generation enable us to learn and identify what’s trending for young minds including rich IT carries high potential and which entertainment forms will be the new frontier.

With our investment in these we added considerable new content in virtual idol including China’s most popular virtual idol Luo Tianyi and we started to explore Virtual Youtuber or Vtuber. We believe this initiative will further enhance our extensive portfolio of industry leading license and the PUGV material.

No new news from the earnings call really. Only a brief mention of Tianyi and how Vtubers are starting to get popular on the site Bilibili Inc. (BILI) Q4 2018 Earnings Conference Call Transcript -- The Motley Fool
And for the live broadcasting, currently the gross profit is not that high, but actually if you count the -- our subscription membership revenues, the overall margin is still reasonable. So, we will not like to calculate gross profit margin in like just look at one quarter or two quarters numbers. We will keep invest in our Comic business, so that will -- well will incur more content cost for our Comics and we will also invest in different areas like virtual idol, Luo Tianyi, that will help us to grow our communities.
(Foreign Language) Okay. So first of all, in the core ACG content, target users, they themselves are growing bigger and bigger. That includes, for example, for the domestic animations, we have more and more viewers, who will -- who are interested in domestic animations and more and more users are starting to accept and grow fond of VTubers. And e-sports, nevertheless to say has become countrywide sensation.
Why does Nico's design from the new Dead Or Alive game remind me of a wide variety of utau & vocaloid designs? (not saying it's a bad design btw)

Definitely her jacket and the exposed shoulders seem futuristic/idol. Her outfit looks similar to Mirai Komachi or Annon and Kannon. I think the outfit looks more idol-ish than scientist.

Komachi? Yes. Mixed in with a bit of Rin and Aiko Kikyuune
The VSinger metrocards reminded me of something I was thinking about. It was about how easy & cheap it is for people in Japan & China to get out to vocaloid concerts because of all the high speed rail. It's more difficult for people in the US because of all the travel costs.

I mean look at how far CFM had to travel with last year's MikuExpo shows in the US

Made that a while back ago in an attempt to guess at then not yet announced show locations

And also somewhat importantly, look how far people in certain states (say anything north of Kansas) have to travel.

I couldn't go to Miku Expo mostly cuz it was just too far away.
