  • Worked a bit more on my Ellie VRoid/VRM model. Here's a vid of her physics in motion. Also did body adjustments & a iris fix

Between CeVIO's big update next year & SynthV possibly seeing a commercial release, I wonder how both of them would go about releasing third party banks in the west
It's official. I made the world's worst Yanhe model *nervous laugh*

I think it's a good achievement! You managed to finish your 2nd model. How many people can say that? Of course the beginning experiments won't be perfect (no one starts out as the next Picasso or Tony Hawk or Mozart), but if you keep going I think you can improve exponentially. ^-^ Also, VRoid is still new and lacks important features/has limitations, so even if you just wait for another update, maybe you can go back and edit this model and the Eleanor one?

I think she is really cute! especially her face looks reaaaally good! And her body also looks very well modeled. Don't worry too much about the hair and the texturing, those things are really hard to learn and to perfect and for that it's good!

She's cute ! And well, don't worry, tell yourself at least you managed to finish a model (I struggle OTL) Plus it's nice seeing her with a bobcut, and that fits her well ^.^
So with Tumblr's big anti-NSFW content purge, at least 25% of the Miku fanart & 45% of the Yukari fanart is going to be wiped from the site.

Wow, I feel REALLY sorry for Yukari....
So V5 sounds more realistic than V3&4, but CeVIO's english bank sounds more realistic even with engine noise, but Sophia sounds much more real than those two with no engine noise but yet SynthV trumps them all & it's currently out for free for the moment? Yamaha should be seriously worried right now.

I think it will depend on SynthV's marketing budget and aspirations. A lot more people are aware of Vocaloid at the moment, so even if SynthV is the better product, competing would be very tricky. A lot of Vocaloid's current sales are also driven by the characters and culture rather than technical ability. No parameters could sway a Miku fan, for example!

@Exemplar True. I haven't tried Synth V myself yet, but if it's as good as some of the samples make it seem, it could definitely be a strong competitor with Vocaloid, if (as @lIlI mentioned) they have the aspirations, marketing budget, and marketing know-how to make it happen (Actually, I was half-hoping when I read your post that they were giving away free full versions for whatever reason. I wouldn't mind pairing her up with Miku. :) ).

Actually, I wouldn't be surprised if the platform got sold to one or the other major players at some point for just that reason--even with a superior product, I'd think it would be hard for a one-person/few-person shop to compete against a company the size of Yamaha or Crypton.
Sigh. I don't think my Eleanor VRoid model would be recognized as her at first. At least she looks like a nice looking OC

@mobius017 Not really. VRoid has an extensive clothes editing option (in the pictures she's wearing an unedited dress) and editing is kinda not working with the current model so I either have to wait for a bug fix or just edit a second model for body/face/clothes and then import the hair to that new model but that might lead to bugging issues too. Plus hair physics editing is coming in a future update and oh boy, Ellie is going to need that badly.. Because of that update, i'm thinking about starting up a second model with much shorter hair that really wouldn't need have the need for that kind of editing in the meanwhile and then come back to Ellie. Maybe either Gumi, Yanhe or V4 Flower.

Ah, I see. Well, she definitely looks really good right now! Regarding recognizability, I think she definitely looks like Ellie. She would be more distinctive (pretty much unmistakable, I'd think), if it were possible to get the red wax seal/feather thing she has on her head. And the clothing customizations would help, too. But in terms of the girl herself, she's pretty spot-on :).

@mobius017 Clothes editing in vroid is currently in a weird spot right now. All you can really do in it is recolor pieces, erase layers to remove clothing and mold hair to look like accessories (which can be odd looking especially if it's big things like glasses). Once more bug fixes and options open up, i'll most likely return to editing the Ellie model to finish her up. But given the only two outfits that can be edited right now (dress & school girl uniform), i'm consider doing either a Gumi and/or Yanhe model(s) right now seeing how those articles of clothing could be easier to make in it at the moment and the lack of hair physics editing that's very apparent with long dos like Ellie has.
Hopefully I did at least a halfway decent job with Eleanor's hairbuns

Looking back on it after a night's rest, the buns look out of place.

Only thing that sorta jumped out at me is the back--next to her head, they sort of look like bowls, like a shell that's been put up to the side of her head that's hollow underneath. There should be some kind of bunch of hair back there to fill in that space and sort of join to her head. Or maybe the buns could curve more to have the side next to her head follow the curve of her head more closely, rather than sort of sticking up straight? Though I don't know if either of those suggestions are possible in the software you're using or not; depends on what you have to work with. The texture looks really good, though!

@mobius017 The backspace is an incomplete area with no hair put in yet.I wanted to show how the buns would look from the back. I might try moving some hair stands around to make it look more round though.
Why did I have the feeling that we're going to get the anti-Miku from the western side of the sing synth scene soon?
A random Q. If I made a design for Eleanor Forte that was a bit different like say her hair & it's color was changed, do you think she still would be recognizable? I know fan deviations for vocas are common but i'm a bit nervous about it.

I would be interested in seeing what you design! I think it should be fine, just have something that's recognizable about her still in the new design (for example, pigtails of any length, put that red head seal somewhere else on her, or even if she's not in black and white give her two sets of alternating colors).
