I got into Vocaloid in 2010. I first heard someone mention "Vocaloid" on some messageboard. However, the one that made the thread talked about it as if it was a game. tl;dr they got kinda flamed and me not knowing that much at the time still defended her a bit because people were being super rude to her. Anyway I stupidly didn't look further into it for a while as I thought it was a game just like how the person described it. Then one day the word just popped into my head at random so I finally looked into it and there it was right on wikipedia. I went to youtube and yep I officially entered the Vocaloid fandom.
My journey in Vocaloid was both a fun and also embarrassing adventure. I still cringe at the majority of the many fanarts I made and rp's. I was just transitioning into digital drawing at the time and I never drew humans before then so....it was awkward. I still suck but not as much at least. The first Kaito song that I remember coming across and liking was What's COLOR? by ShinjouP. I pretty quickly became interested in Kaito the most. I even obsessively started following his development from when v2 appends were a thing into v3. Even now he is still my favorite Vocaloid.
I was most active in the fandom between 2011 and 2014? I think I started to fall out of it into 2015 onwards. I don't know...I started to feel what I thought was a decline especially in content I liked and looked forward to. I guess since its 2020 why not check it out again I thought so I'm back. I still feel that decline I felt years ago but some of the producers I was into have started to gradually come back and that makes me happy.
