  • I'd hoped running the vocals of this song through Melodyne would give me a good midi for it, because its tempo fluctuates literally every single note and midi-ing it by hand would be hell, as it's six minutes long.

Naturally, either it or every single synth I have insists on assigning a set tempo to it, making that impossible.

Looks like it's time to spend the next FOUR WEEKS midi-ing! Yaaaaaay.

I've done that before with great success, but when I say "literally every note," I'm not even exaggerating. I mean it, with a passion and from the bottom of my heart. If I do some generalization and divide it up by MAJOR tempo changes, that's still... well, every handful of bars, which requires about the same amount of effort. Still, thank you!!

I GOT IT! I was able to set it to one solid tempo in Melodyne and export the midi, then I set my Vocaloid project to the same tempo, et voila! Aaaahhhhh this’ll save me so much time~

    Go Peaches go! :chika_ani_lili:
The good news: having that hot chocolate earlier boosted my mood, absolutely.

The bad news: now I want more, but I don't have enough milk to make another glass.

The really good news: while cleaning, I found a $15 Walmart gift card! So my current plan's to pick up two more cartons tomorrow (or five, because my favorite milk is $3 and I've been using a lot lately). I wanna experiment with hot chocolate recipes! Mix in some cinnamon and maybe cayenne.

...maybe this is why I'm having trouble adjusting to tea. I love my drinks to slap me in the face with flavor.
Welp! I ALMOST did it! I ALMOST managed to do something worth proving my right to exist today! I got one of my pony's severely tangled hair untangled and even got a little bit of tuning done.

Now I'm just sad. I think it's just a testament to my character. I'm a bad person. Of course I like bad things. A lady who shills Mary Kay even told me I was "perfect network marketing material." That's like the ULTIMATE proof that I'm a bad person. Yes I know they say that to everyone, but she meant it, all the way to the depths of her heart.

Add into that the fact that I keep screwing up and can't properly brew tea like a normal person, and you've got one oversized mass of wasted oxygen.

With how much I've been pressing myself to do something good and productive and how little success I've had, maybe I should embrace it tonight. Clear off my couch and do nothing. If I'm gonna be a waste of a life, I might as well enjoy it.
I learned a very hard, very sobering lesson today. That lesson:

Just because someone is a good director, that doesn’t mean they’re guaranteed to make good movies. Which is to say, Patuk and I discovered that the duo behind Goodnight Mommy, one of the most beautifully crafted horror films of the past ten years, also directed The Lodge, which is not only the worst horror film I've ever seen, it's among the worst movies in general that I've ever seen. I'm an extreme cinema junkie. I've seen a lot of bad films. Vase de Noces had more heart, purpose, and impact than The Lodge.

How? How could the mighty fall so hard?

I’m just so fucking pissed. You have such a magnificent premise, and “OooOOOOoooOOOoo, spoOOOooooOooky unmedicated woman with ambiguous mental illness!” is the direction you choose to take? All the while portraying her as the villain, even after you find out that literally everything that happened in the film was an elaborate plot to exploit her trauma, reverse the significant progress she’s made after her horrific early life, and shatter her sanity for the sake of petty retribution? Ugh I just fucking HATED this movie.

I’m glad we watched it though, because it’s going to make for some EXCELLENT roasting sessions, as it did tonight.

Whenever horror leans too hard on a ludicrous depiction of mental illness as the crux of its story it can easily go off the rails.
Today's been an odd day. Storms took out our generator at work and the backup failed during business hours, leaving the whole store in the dark for a solid twenty minutes. All but one customer was super chill about it (said customer was an old lady who threw a sobbing fit and insisted WE owed HER because we wouldn't let her just take her stuff for free since the registers were down), so it ended up being quite fun. Now I'm hungry even though I've eaten twice today, dehydrated even though I've had a little over 100oz of water, and a chip of my tooth fell out. Why? I don't know. I was literally just sitting here and it fell out.

But! I FINALLY got a cover idea for miss AI Gumi! It's been difficult because her range just isn't as wide as her Standard banks, but once you hit her sweet spot, she's just... MM I love her so much~
I do wish Vocalo Changer would let you do a few more things - fix wonky notes, edit phonemes, etc. Testing it with my own voice, the results are nice, but it's clear I'm no native Japanese speaker. I hope they'll continue to develop it!

Oh my gosh I just tried it and I'm crying at how wonky it sounds sdjfkldsj (To be fair maybe it's picking up background noise or something, I'm using my laptop mic in my living room so I don't know what I expected :teto_lili: ) (Getting fun results using my Synth V/V5 Amore renders though)

Yeah, I imagine it sounds better with good recording equipment. I recorded mine on my phone and ran it through a denoiser.
Wish me luck! I’m trying hot tea for the first time. Brewed it myself! My autism makes it extremely difficult to register temperature in liquid form until it’s too late, so I’m more worried about scalding myself than anything 😅

    well done peaches!! :lapis_lili: :miku_sakura_lili: :kizakiairi_lili:
about the tea, yes it depends a lot on the brand itself, but also, was it green tea or brown tea? because they have some differences in making it: basically, green tea requires hot water of about 80 degrees (celsius) and less time (half of brown tea), and you can move the tea bag gently during the making time. how to know when water is reaching 80 degrees? when you start seeing small bubbles on the bottom and on the side🎵
brown tea, on the other hand, requires hot boiling water, so 95 degrees (bubbles are big and they make like a "concert" hehe)
if you use an electric kettle that stops automatically, for 80 degrees stop it manually when you start hearing some small sounds(●ˇ∀ˇ●)

It was a tea blend with a black tea base. I read that for black tea, it should reach full boil first and then poured after cooling for a moment, so that's what I did. Thank you for the guidance!

You've never drunk hot tea before!? :O

I drink it all the time!
"Peaches we still don't know when they're coming out, isn't it a bit early to start making boxart?" Not after hearing that Shanghai got bullied into not even giving them boxart 😭

That side of the fandom that won't let anyone enjoy anything if it dares to have anything to do with Vocaloid: *says literally anything*

@Twillby oh my GOD you've gotta watch the new one, it's so GOOD

I'm just so fucking fed up. It's like you can't say the single slightest positive thing about Vocaloid without half the fandom tripping over their feet to remind you that ACTUALLY IT SUCKS, IT'S SO NOISY, THEY'RE BEHIND ON THE TIMES, YAMAHA IS GREEDY AND EVIL and it's 2022, everyone's suffering! Shut the fuck up and let people enjoy unproblematic things!

I'm gonna go ahead and block Twitter on all my devices for my mental health and steer clear of anything vocalsynth related outside of VVN I think. I just wanna enjoy things.

I’m happy to some extent for VocaTwitter because they helped me sell some VBs and get out of a financial hole recently. I just hate the hive mind saying you HAVE to like XYZ and you HAVE to hate ZYX. It’s impossible to thrive unless you make SynthV or whatever’s currently hottest your god and treat Vocaloid/Yamaha like Lucifer or that annoying Scentsy rep that keeps cold-messaging you on Facebook. You’re not even allowed to like them all by their own merit. You HAVE to do it a certain way.
V6, according to a fruit who's had it for ten minutes:
    • Load times for Standard banks is instantaneous. Like, wow. For AI banks it takes about the same amount of time it took VBs to load in V5 after making edits.
    • The V5 Standards seem to sound more clear. They're not quite as muffled.
    • Vibrato, Pitch Snap/Robot Voice, Auto Breathing, and Voice Selection has been significantly streamlined. It's all available in the form of buttons or dropdown menus on the editor window instead of being hidden in tabs.
    • Parameter panel is hidden at first. A simple Ctrl+P brings it up.
    • The crosslingual sounds great from the tests I've ran so far!
    • AI banks don't make any noise if there's a gap between notes, while standards still voice small gaps. AI banks also don't react well to short and/or rapid notebends but respond fine to simple or long notebends.
    • The AI panels seem to be similar to SynthVs but a lot less cluttered. Gonna play with them some more!
    • My only real complaint is the Open/Close Editor Window shortcut being replaced with Ctrl+Alt+B (it's made less offensive by there being a very obvious and simple button to click that does it just as quickly, right on the top bar, but damn that's gonna take some reworking of muscle memory), as well as the fact that AI banks have to have their own track, so switching between a Standard and AI singer is a little inconvenient.
    • AI pitch is a little wonky by default. Not like CeVIO AI wonky, but still in need of some minor edits.
    • LINE TOOL! THE LINE TOOL'S BACK! WELCOME BACK!
God this is amazing, my skin is clear my crops are thriving I'm not constipated anymore
I was SO sad and demotivated tonight, holy shit this makes things SO much better :haku_ibis:

The upgrade is such a steal! $135 for eight VBs, four AI and four standard, and all of the features of V5 in an updated environment? Hell, even WITHOUT the upgrade price it's a steal. This is just spectacular. I wonder if the Standards will sound much different in the new editor!

...considering I've already bought it and I'm downloading everything now, I suppose I'll find out soon enough!
Welp! That’s annoying. Another editor whose content I have to steer clear of for the next few weeks, grumble grumble…

I need a good kick in the ass to get something of creative substance done. I’ve done nothing lately because I’ve been so hyperfixated on losing weight and earning money. I’m hungry and agitable, but I’m back in the green and my weight loss impressed my doctor enough that she okay’d me for a 90-day supply of my meds, which Has Never Happened (she’s a STRONG proponent of “You wouldn’t need them if you just lost weight!”, so getting what I need when I need it from her has always been a struggle).

What do I do? Nothing I do sounds good. I have nothing new to share. I need to do something and I need to do it NOW but I have nothing. Maybe all I can do is wait for my meds to kick back in and try to waste as little oxygen in the meantime.

Thank you! I decided to try working on some tuning. True to form, Tsudumi sounds like a goat that's bored out of her mind in my hands, Meiko sounds drunk, I have no motivation to use Ace now that R*tsu's on it... I've lost my talent again. The question is what I'll do in the meantime until it comes back, assuming it's not permanent this time.

Might doing something do that requires a little less finesse help? Like I find that when I’m stumped with a project working on a midi or folding laundry can help to like focus and center my brain. (Ofc I’m a bit odd as I like trying to figure out harmonies) Petting cats helps too.
Me, ten minutes ago: “Hooray, another Kamitsubaki VB. I can’t wait for yet another Kafu rehash with none of the charm~”

Me now, after finally listening to the demo: “Coko Coko Coko Coko Coko Coko Cokoooooooooo :momo_ibis: :haku_ibis:
Okay, I'm sorry, but I'm losing my shit over the new Natalie demo. I've never seen such intrepid devotion to fitting the words "California," "Summer," and "Summertime" as many times as possible into a three and a half minute span in all my life. It reminds me all too well of the sing-songy rant about the beauties of Dr. Pepper I went on while high off my ass before my carpal/cubital surgery (which my mother keeps threatening to publish to FB one of these days).

Honestly that's Natalie's only saving grace for me: the sheer hilarity of that demo.
