Also, I'm going to try to get into the habit of wishing people happy birthdays. For the ones I've missed, happy birthday to you.

Hey, don’t worry! I don’t think people pay much attention anyway. We’re just happy you’ve become so comfortable here! :akasakiminato_lili:

@peaches2217 Thank you, I appreciate that:kokone_lili: I don't have anyone to talk about vocal synths with IRL, so I'm glad a site like this exists and is so welcoming.
Has Pixar given us an update on Fat Lightning Mcqueen's SynthV voicebank? He's my favorite utau and I'd hate if he got cancelled because they want to prioritize Weird Remy Merchandise's appends.:kaito_lili:
I'm hoping to get some VSTs soon, as I'm sorely lacking in a lot of instruments, but I also want to get IA and IA Rocks in case they retire her vocaloid version when the new version of CeVIO comes out. Does anyone remember when the new version comes out?

@Maribelle I remember that too, but people were confused since it wouldn't make sense to bring over just her talk bank. The whole CeVIO situation currently is confusing, but the IA/ONE stuff is particularly confusing since 1st Place has been quiet about it.

It's only IA Talk and ONE Talk that's being updated - they're the only ones mentioned in the official announcement (and was further confirmed here). There's no confirmed release date yet other than they're aiming to have them out by the end of this year.

@Rylitah Thanks. I'll get those VSTs then. Though I do want IA, so this is a tough choice:ia_lili:

    edit: grammar
Does anyone have advice for fixing Gumi Eng's choppy transitions? Like how she has this odd stop of sorts when saying a word that has to be split into three different notes? I tried following this guide, but I'm having trouble understanding it. That and I'm not very familiar with how to alter phonetics, so that may also be a problem.

Doesn't sound weird at all, it makes sense. I've been using that Gumi ENG guide to help with some of the pronunciation issues in my cover, and I'm starting to remember them. It is a bit tricky remembering that some have a lower case and a upper case and that both of those produce different sounds.
Good point. I do plan on buying Maika someday, and phonemes are a big part of her voicebank, so I think my work around won't work forever:kyo_ani_lili: or if I want to make a cover for a song sung in a conlang, or using some conlang, like Pane Dhiria.

The reason it switches between capital and lowercase is that X-SAMPA is basically the friendly version of IPA symbols (like that weird upside-down e). So I guess having to write phonemes this way is better than somehow having to remember/type IPA symbols!

Getting Maika eventually and also making a conlang cover sound like fun projects! Good luck with your projects!

Ah, that makes sense. That would be difficult to remember:clara_ani_lili:

Thank you:mirai_ani_lili: I have many projects to start and finish, and many vocal synths I want, so I'll need that luck.
I should probably finish covers before starting new ones. I'm in the midst of four right now(technically 3; one of them just needs the instrumental to be fixed) and it's making it difficult to focus on any of them because I keep jumping between them.
Does anyone else have trouble making a VSQ/VSQX/VPR/etc for Meltdown? The notes are all over the place and it's hard to figure them out by ear.
This is the first time I'm covering a song with a fast tempo though, so maybe I'm just not used to those kind of songs yet.

@peaches2217 I usually would, but I'm trying to get better with music(I have a music theory book, but it wasn't very good and didn't teach me much) and figuring out notes, as well as get used to the software. Plus, Meltdown is one of my favorites, so I want to be able to make a VPR for it myself:mirai_ani_lili:

@Maribelle It's a easy skill to develop! It just takes some time, but it's well worth it, and the more you do, the better you get:clara_ani_lili: I recommend practicing it by doing songs with slow tempos, then moving on to faster tempos. You can also ask people if the note is correct if you're having trouble with one. It's also fine to look at midis or VSQs/etc if you're really stuck and have no idea what the note is. It's a bit like playing a game with a lot of puzzles in it, like Portal, and then googling how to solve a puzzle if you just can't figure it out.
My problem is I can never find an untuned base. They're always pre-tuned for the most part.

That's admirable! If you ever need any help, don't hesitate to ask me -- I got lucky and was raised by rabid musicians, so I can pick things by ear immaculately, and I'd be happy to assist in any way I can!

@peaches2217 Thank you very much for your offer! :yanhe_lili: I'll make sure to remember it.
It's hard to come by male vocals in vocal synths, especially ones with as much versatility as Piko, so this news about Piko being officially discontinued is really sad to me. I know Fukase and others can work as replacements, but something about Piko was special.

@patuk I think his digital download disappeared a short while ago? I remember an old profile post from someone else noticing that he disappeared from sale.

Oh I do know about that:o but then they restock him again and now hes again gone off the market will the statement theres no current plans to restock him, I was wondering if Sony's still being silent otherwise :yohioloid_lili:

@patuk Sony Music Shop, the last place you could buy him, has him listed as sold out according to this post(and the tweet linked in it) in General Discussion General Discussion Thread

It's not an official statement, but considering it's Sony's own store, I would assume it's as close as we'll get to an official statement considering they don't seem to care about him.
That's what I thought of as soon as I heard the news. He's got one of the most passionate fanbases and I can't imagine how sad some of the fans must be right now if they didn't get a chance to buy him. I own him and I'm still sad about it. As impossible as it is, I hope one day his VP will record for another voicebank, like how Sora's VP also provided the voice for one of the Macne's(I think at least, I'm not familiar with Utau outside of the really popular ones like Teto, Ritsu, etc)

@Blue Of Mind I was a lurker for a while before I made a account and recall that profile post too. I think it was for his removal from CDJapan but I'm not sure as I also recall a post about his digital download vanishing.
