  • How can I make Miku sound clear? In my cover of Monster, she sounds muffled from 2:22-2:52 (the video below is not mine)

Could it have been my mixing? Any help would be lovely :)

I know that feeling too well. Rin ENG is hard to mix with too, and you can't make her clearness too high or else there's a weird sound that is produced every time she sings a note. I don't know how to describe it. It changes her tone as well. It may have also been my fault and I mixed her poorly, but I'm not sure since I'm usually good with mixing.

I also think it depends on the song. I actually saw a comment by Mitchie M on his Twitter (It was in Japanese and I replied in Japanese) he said how hard it is to work with Rin's English voicebank and me thinking "Oh yeah." I think Luka, Gumi, and Fukase are easy to use.

It definitely depends on the song. The Cryptonloid ENGs seem to be better at slower songs in my experience. Which is a shame, as their voices could be very good for fast songs.
I haven't used Luka much, but she seems to be the best among them. I haven't heard many complaints about her English either. Gumi is hard for me personally due to her pronunciation issues and choppiness. If you can fix that though, it's a very good VB.
I haven't gotten to use Fukase yet. I plan on buying him someday though.
How does Miku sound here? I did a birthday stream a day earlier for people ahead in time zones.

I'm making a cover of Monster but with Miku, but when she says: But baby, I was born to do the killing

Her 'I' sounds odd. I played around with other vocaloids like Rin, Len, Fukase etc and they sound found. Any advice?

I dont have Miku so I cant give you a concrete solution but maybe cut the note up and start with the [k e] in a small note then go into the I in the next one? Then try other phonemes out to see the best fit

I second trying other phonemes. I'm guessing your issue is with the "i" in "killing," and Miku is pronouncing it like "keeling," right? Check out this article--it lists alternative phonemes you can use for vowels. There's a sort of range of vowels you can use, going from a short/lax "eh" to the longer "ee" sound. Here's a quote from the article:

    ←open (lax) [{] [e] [e@] [eI] [i:] close (tense)→
I'm guessing Miku is using "i:". You might want to try one of the phonemes that's further to the left/more lax.

Your mixing is improving a lot. The tuning is really good. My only advice is that you use the robotic function that I think V4 has for tuning, but only because this song has techno-elements in it. But if you don't care about being exactly like the original that's fine too.
Keep up the good work :kokone_lili:
Does anyone on here know how to use Tex files in MMD? I don’t know to import them...

However, the file I’m using uses dds files as textures.

@Kazumimi I'm not sure how to use png pictures in MMD either. Like how/where do I import them?

Not at my computer rn, but to import a background image (I’m assuming you mean BG images—you cant’t add textures in MMD) there should be something on the top menu bar labeled background or something like that. Click that and you should see an option to load a background image.
My cover of Yukari singing Sadistic Music Factory is now on my SoundCloud

Wonderful cover so thank you for introducing me to a new song. I am rather glad you used Yuzuku Yukari for this song as I've read that she's based off the mythological figure of the Moon Rabbit whose legends can be attributed to the creation of the legendary elixir of immortality. As the song suggests that both Miku and Yuzuku revel in music as a form of sustenance though ironically instead of Yuzuku Yukari and Hatsune Miku creating the elixir of immortality, they enslave us to create it (music) for her and Miku instead. I also rather like how similar it remains to the original , but has your own unique touch alongside the rather lovely Yuzuku Yukari.

All in all, thank you for the cover and allowing me to shake the dust off my brain. Cheers friend.

@vocaloidcreatornoob Her V4 and all it's banks is lovely. I'm excited to get it someday.

@Average Poet I think I recall that legend! That makes this cover even better :yukari_onn_lili: And yes, Yukari is loosely based on the Moon Rabbit according to her page on the vocaloid wiki. Some of her designs feature a rabbit ear motif on the hood as well.

@Stardust I agree. I used her Lin voice bank. Her voicebanks are lovely.

Could I get some critique on my Luka Blackjack song (English)?

I really like it. It's hard to get engloids to sing at fast tempos, but it still sounds good even with that limitation. Might want to mix it more so you can hear Luka better, she was a little quiet at times. You can also try using mixing tools to make her sound clearer, which would help with the fast tempo somewhat muffling her words. I assume you mix with Studio One since you own a cryptonloid? If so it has a wonderful mixing tool, called Pro EQ, that I personally recommend. Out of the mixing tools they have, it's the one that's given me the best results, and helps vocaloids sound more realistic too if you like that tuning style.
    I hope this helped :yanhe_lili:
Anyone know a site like SoundCloud but free? I have songs on my SoundCloud and want to put them all on but don’t wanna when to pay pro.

i think clyp is free unless the audio is over 25mb?? otherwise yeah the soundcloud limit sucks, that's why i plan whenever i hit the limit to just start deleting the oldest tracks :/ or maybe uh... finally cough the money up

It kinda sucks when you think about. But that’s how a company makes money.
In MMD, how can I make the model lip sync?
