I was caught in a real life discussion about gigs last weekend, so I thought I'd post a thread about it on here.

Admittedly, I haven't been to many concerts in my lifetime, but I have enjoyed the ones I've been to so far. My first gig was Weird Al Yankovic followed by Kraftwerk and ABC. The Kraftwerk gig was probably my favourite overall since I've always wanted to see them, and I got lucky two years ago. The Weird Al gig was probably the most interesting concert since it was an ordinary 'pub gig' that was crowded as hell. X) I also have two separate band tees from the Weird Al and Kraftwerk gigs (for whatever reason, ABC didn't sell any merch).

I was supposed to see Tears For Fears last year, but they ended up pushing their entire UK tour back to this year at the last minute due to "health issues". :( With any luck, I should be seeing them for real next month.

Does anyone else go to concerts (regularly or not), or have any funny/weird/shocking stories to tell about them?

The only real concert I had gone to was a Tegan and Sara/Paramore concert back in 2010 at a venue that was also a theme park. I ended up getting a severe sunburn and some sort of tinnitus from how loud the park was. It messed up my hearing before getting into the concert and I really couldn't enjoy the concert much because of it.

Aside Miku concerts, I'm not really an active concert-goer. When I was younger I used to go to this yearly concert near me for 3 years. Those concerts were fun, they had many different performers over the weekend. It's just that more than half of the bands were local/small name acts that weren't always so pleasant to listen to. At best they had some bigger names too (big names within the Finnish music scene).

I just stopped going there since I had never been that interested in the music they played (mostly rock), and as many of my friends moved out of town I didn't have a reason to go there for the company either.

Actually I'm not interested in attending other concerts besides Vocaloid ones, I just don't have any artists besides Vocaloids that I would be so passionate to see live that it would warrant the costs of traveling, hotel etc.

I’ve only been to 3 concerts aside Miku, all very different atmospheres. I want to go to more sometime, more when J live in a city and don’t have to drive 4-7 hours to Dallas or San Antonio (or even Austin/Houston) to go (shame there’s no really big cities in West Texas)

The only weird kind of story I can think of really is when I went to see Shakira last year. Her opening act was some DJ rhat was playing music that disn’t go together, and every once in a while would shout “are you ready for Shakira?!” and as everyone got excited, he just...kept going. Couldn’t even tell it was an opening act and not just the venue’s music at first, given I can’t see, until my brother in law told me and my sister (who is blind like I am but worse) there was a guy on stage...he never even introduced himself. It was really weird but it was at least fun to joke about.

I took foam earplugs to the Weird Al gig just in case it was too loud (I have sensory issues regarding loud sounds), but I didn't bother for the Kraftwerk and ABC gigs because neither of their music is known for ruining ear drums. :P
