So far listening to the demos I can’t really hear a difference in sound between NT and V4X (which makes sense I wasn’t expecting a big difference) but Miku is definitely a lot clearer and easier to understand (her pronunciation is really promising) and I’m loving some of the new features and what I’m hearing about the editor. So far I’m enjoying what I see of NT I think crypton will go in a good direction with this if they continue to listen to the fans.

Feel obligated to share this since it's my favourite usage of NT that I've heard.

In general from what I've seen it seems the actual editor is far from finished and lacks a lot of functionality, so it makes sense as to why they called it a prototype instead of a beta. Weird that they included an English and Japanese installer separately, which essentially doubled the download's size. Miku NT herself is 1.28GB, by the way. I really enjoy how she sounds, it's like Miku V2 but with some of the V1 magic plus V4-style functionality. Looking forward to improvements!

I think there's a lot of potential in what I've heard!! Yeah there's some rough-around-the-edges things, but she is just a prototype still. I look forward to hearing more :)

Bearing in mind that I can't speak to the Japanese parts, I'm blown away by whatever this person did with the English phrase "Love Communication!" Maybe it's one or more of the effectors. The tone of it is just...wow. (Granted, it's only two words.) Haven't heard her do English like that before!

Sign me the f*ck up!

So if Cherry Pie isn't even going to be included with the voicebanks, what was the point of even revealing it and using it in several commissioned songs? I'm also a bit surprised that the NT interface doesn't have vibrato apparently.

Despite that, I'm actually impressed by some of the things I've seen/heard. Voltage is great, and I love the growls. Also, I haven't used the software yet, but from watching people use the tools for drawing pitch bends ... it looks really intuitive to me.

I HATE the "head" and "tail" on each note. It's confusing and makes you question where the notes start/end. The light grey = the actual MIDI note, the medium grey head/tail are velocity or something. I wish they would change the head/tail to not be grey, because it makes me stare at the notes for a long time trying to figure out what I'm looking at even though I'm the one who created the MIDI file and imported it to begin with. 🙃

Looks to me like it's a visualization of the consonant pre-utterance. Similar to how Utau and SharpKey/DeepVocal represent it visually. I will say that it's not the most intuitive way to represent it compared to the other software, but it's something I could get used to.

That's kind of my suspicion, too. I have a feeling that it will probably come out eventually. If it were just an in-house tool they never meant to make available, they never would have shown it at all. If/when it does come out, I assume you'll need an NT VB to use it.

I'm also a bit surprised that the NT interface doesn't have vibrato apparently.
They're apparently working on adding that:
I guess based on Wat's new tweet, there's no vibrato in NT right now and he said they will fix that right away.
I've seen what appear to be bugs when pasting lyrics in or editing the phonemes directly; one of these actually made the note previews stop working, and I had to close/reopen. Possibly that was because I'm just semi-ignorantly pasting Japanese in.... But people who must know better what they're doing have gotten some really encouraging results, so I'm really excited to get the fully working version in a language I command better ;) .

Messy post cause lacking time.

I am still waiting to see if Wat replies to me asking him about Cherry Pie being included, so don't take me assuming it's not as 100% true (because what he said is a little vague). But I am suspicious because it's not listed on Sonicwire as a feature. I am also worried because Wat never replies to my questions EVER even if he replies to everyone else's comments in the thread. (I think Wat hates me.)

They are planning to update the following problems at the end of the month:
Add vibrato function
Improve naturalness, sound quality, long note vibrato
Bug fixes, software betterment

I saw a Japanese user refer to Menu Bar > Note > Vibrato Settings... as a "shutdown button" and sure enough, pressing it causes Piapro to immediately close.

ummm so anyway stan kira
Honestly, maybe it's just because he's so good at using vocal synths, but I swear that Miku NT has some real potential, no matter who uses it!!

So apparently the Japanese fandom are debating on rather to still tag Miku nt with Vocaloid.

Ooogh I wanna try her so badly, honestly..... Sob....
I saw somebody describe Miku NT in a really good way honestly, that she isn't exactly an update (or should be compared to what a Miku V5 could've been) but is a complete revamp/change. It might take a while for Crypton to really... Get the perfect result, but they have full control of their vocals now and know what they want them to be and how they want them to sound, so I trust them! I wonder if they'll hear the feedback abt the engine noise and try and prioritise fixing that for the final release.

It's reassuring that a patch will come soon. Do you think Meiko will be the next NT release after Miku is done?

It’ll probably be the Kagamines or Luka. I doubt crypton could get Meiko ready in time for her birthday unless they’re working on her right now which isn’t likely. If Miku comes out on time that’ll surprise me honestly

They had been making it seem like Meiko was important because of her anniversary (having her speaking at Miku Symphony and next to Miku for Pocari Sweat), but that's long gone now. I think by the time Miku is done, it could be anyone's chance. Note for those who haven't heard, ALL of the Cryptonloids had been being worked on equally throughout this entire 2-ish years (not counting Miku). We've only heard the new voices for the Kagamines in the Project Sekai clips, so we've actually heard more Meiko than anyone other than Miku so far.

Anyway, I honestly hope it's someone whose voice bank is older (as in Kaito or Meiko). I am getting really sick of waiting for Kaito, been waiting to buy him for as long as this thread is old...
:ring_ani_lili:

We mentioned this on Discord, but do you think they will sell Len and Rin separately? If Miku has 3 voices and everyone else does, too, then what's the point in selling them together? It's also already firmly established they are a pair, but I think they don't necessarily need the gimmick anymore because they have fans now who might not want to buy both of them.

Same, end September to mid October sounds more realistic for the full version of Miku.

I do think that Kaito and Meiko will be next, because they need it the most to stay relevant. Rin/Len and Luka had an update on V4, so they can wait a bit.

Oh, that's a possibility. Never thought of that. Besides selling them separately, Crypton could still offer Rin and Len as a bundle with a small discount.

Wat seems to have a soft spot for Rin/Len Act 1 vocal tone. Will he achieve this with their NT version or will it be more like their V4 Power Append?

I’m honestly expecting KAITO / MEIKO / Luka to come next (MEIKO and KAITO since they didn’t get a V4 and Luka because her V4 wasn’t the best, let’s say)

I would actually be really pissed if they split the Kagamines up personally. I know that most people have their preferences between the two, but the whole reason I like them is because they're a pair. I'm not ashamed to admit I like gimmicks and I've always hated that people buy the pair just to use ONE of them and ignore the other. If you only want a young, soft, boy voice OR a young, nasally, girl voice, you have other options.
