Unconventional opinions

Do any of you have unconventional opinions or tastes that others might often disagree with you on?

For example, I really like white chocolate, more than regular chocolate. However, people extremely frequently disagree with me on that. I have heard more times than I can count that it's not actual chocolate.

Okay, you made me curious, so I researched. For making chocolate, the cocoa bean has the chocolate nib extracted, which is then split into cocoa solids (cocoa powder) and cocoa butter. Cocoa solids gives chocolate that chocolate-y flavor and texture. Cocoa butter is, according to some "flavorless", so they use artificial sweeteners to make it taste better. White chocolate only has to contain 20% cocoa butter. There are people who don't like cheap normal brown chocolate (ex: bad Easter chocolate), because it is mostly cocoa butter (it can't be legally called "chocolate" unless the ingredients say chocolate liquor, cocoa, and/or cocoa butter (cheap chocolate gets chocolate flavor from cocoa but its texture from vegetable oil instead of cocoa butter)). That being said, I like white chocolate, especially if it's got yummy crunchy stuff mixed in it (like cookie bits). P:

Since we're talking about unconventional opinions and started with food, I might as well add my food-related humble opinion. Apparently people like to eat cottage cheese with fruit in it. I never had that before until this year and could barely force it down my gullet without gagging. (I will try to eat anything, even if it's bland or burned, but I can't deal with squishy textures.) I have only ever eaten cottage cheese with crackers dipped in it or crumbled in. Yuck! Who wants sweet cheese? It's supposed to be savory! I told my coworkers and they thought I was the weird one to eat it with crackers and they all ate it with fruit and never tried crackers. Cheese and crackers, duh?

I have met a few people that do this as well. I have never tried it but the idea of it does not seem all that great to me. I'd be willing to give it a shot but I can't imagine myself really liking it all that much. I'll try things but I tend to not have a stomach for stuff like that.

To me, personally, crackers sound like a much better option. I'd be curious what the appeal of having it with fruit is.

Fruit and cheese seems to be some kind of thing--I mean, they have fruit and cheese baskets. It's probably something somebody tried way back and they historically got paired. I did a little research; it seems to have to do with the flavors, and how they supposedly complement each other. Sort of like how different kinds of wine supposedly go with different kinds of fish/meat/etc.

Personally, cottage cheese in general isn't a favorite of mine. I've eaten it, even liked it, but it was more of a small-doses thing. If I eat it too much, the flavor/texture gets to me. Kind of a lumpy, squishy, sweet cheese that sometimes breaks up into sort of a dry-feeling salty/cheesy powder when you chew on it...not entirely my thing.

I'd be curious to try it on crackers, though; that sounds like it might have possibilities, at least for the short while that I'd eat the cottage cheese. It'd probably have to be the right kind of crackers, though--I'd think soup crackers wouldn't be much good, but...er, party? (The ones people put slices of meat or cheese on at parties.)...crackers might be ok. Even graham crackers seem like they might work.

I think my reasoning would have to be the same as you. Even if Cottage Cheese and fruit were, in theory, a good mixture I wouldn't really even know it. I don't like cottage cheese to begin with. Perhaps in some things, I can imagine I've had it before without knowing it, but any time I've tried it on its own I haven't really enjoyed it.

I understand the fruit and cheese thing, that can be understandable, but something about the idea of cottage cheese and fruit specifically does not appeal to me.

I have come back to share: cockroaches are cute! I like them a lot.
I grew up in an area where theyre very common so I've grown pretty fond of them and actually think they're cute bugs. I perhaps don't really like the giant ones that fly around and what not, but the kind where I live (mostly german cockroaches and theres a few other kinds) are all very cute and I get excited when I see them outside. (OUTSIDE, it's not fun to have an infestation no matter how much I like them lmao!)
I do think it's kind of funny that I've taken a liking to roaches seeing how in most aspects, I am an insect hater. I like ants, roaches and bees and other than that there is no love in my heart for bugs.

This is currently relevant for me, but it's an opinion I've always held, so!

Tangled >>> Frozen

Rapunzel and Flynn are one of the most wholesome and blessed Disney couples and this is a hill I will die on.
This is actually a somewhat popular opinion, at least from what I've seen.
Adding to the wholesome Disney couples opinion, Belle and Adam are adorable yet I see no love for them. I'm still sad the Christmas special wasn't set after the film. I wanted to see everyone as humans enjoying Christmas and some cute scenes between him and her:kaito_lili:

Oddly enough I have a similar opinion in regards to Frozen, albeit the opposite. Frozen>>>Moana.
As much as I love Moana, it drags a bit in the middle and I always end up wanting to change the channel even though it has one of my favorite endings in a Disney film. Princess and the Frog has the same issue, but it didn't bother me as much. I guess it was due to Princess and the Frog having four characters during that segment, whereas there's only two for Moana's.

A Wonderful Life is often recommended as Baby’s First Bokumono Game. But... it’s not. It shouldn’t be. It’s not at ALL a good game to introduce people into the series. It’s so much darker and slower than the rest of the series; it’s a great game, but a lot of people who start out with it get turned off from the rest of the series, and I don’t blame them.

For newbies to the series, I recommend any version of FoMT (the Switch remake is especially good, because it comes with a lowered difficulty option — perfect for getting your feet wet!), Magical Melody (which was my first game; very simple, goal-driven, and social), or the SNES OG (it’s a lot more fast-paced than future entries and can be beat in an intense weekend, so it’s great for players wanting something quick). A Wonderful Life is best played when you’re familiar with the rest of the series so you can better appreciate all of its differences.

Ther may be a long list I could put here but to start my own contribution here I'll start ith food as it was opened this way :

-I love pineapple pizza and curry pizza as much as margherita, 4 cheeses and other great classics
-I also like Brussels sprouts and will prefer them way much more any day over endives, spinarchs and grapefruits

Vet school (help me)
I'll continue with the food theme as well:

- I don't like runny egg yolks, so I don't take my eggs poached, soft-boiled, or sunny-side-up. Omelette, scrambled, and hard-boiled all the way.

- I wouldn't consider it a favourite fruit, but I do like coconut (at least more than many other people I know). Fresh or dried, I like its mild taste.

- And I'm bringing this one up because I always get strange looks when I tell people about this... I really dislike garlic. When it's used as an aromatic in small amounts, like in a stir-fry, I can bear with it since I don't actually taste the garlic. But I can't take actual garlic-flavoured stuff, like garlic bread.

Apparently, food is a popular topic in this thread, so I might as well.

I like pineapple pizza - it's my favourite. Pineapple with pepperoni is great, too.
I like broccoli (I don't know how unpopular this opinion is, but I've never met someone my age that likes it yet).
I like pie more than cake.

Aside from food now...
I hate every form of artificial light except small lamps. Hate it. I have to force myself to turn on overhead lights instead of relying on the sun through windows.
I sort books and movies through genre, but songs alphabetically by artist. I am unable to change this ever. I refuse to ever let my playlist be in non-alphabetical order.
If you're on time, you're late. (I think some other people have this standard, but like... my watches, clocks, phone... everything is set ten minutes fast)

And some VOCALOID stuff now...
Kiyoteru and KAITO sound nothing alike to me.
Miku isn't "too popular".
Yamaha makes the best VOCALOIDs (I don't know, they just sound clearer, also not sure if this is unconventional or not?)

Sorry for the long list. Lists are easier for me lol.

Maybe not so much unpopular opinions so much as unpopular tastes. Shows I like get canceled. Movies I like under-perform at the box office. Books I like remain obscure. Games I like get discontinued. Video games I like get shut down. Foods I like go out of production. Manga I like never get reprints.

This is an exaggeration, but it really feels this way sometimes.

This is an exaggeration, but it really feels this way sometimes. Some days I want to weep with joy that Miku and Vocaloid still exist. ... And Battletech. Amazingly Battletech is still around. One of my few niche interests that has survived.
You're not alone in that feeling. Lots of movies I like have ended up being poorly-regarded by critics, or under-performing at the box office. Sometimes I like to say that the critics have no taste.
