SynthV Synthesizer V Discussion Thread

Animen has always had a history of disorganisation, but it seems to have amped up considerably after the pandemic. The whole thing reminds me a lot of the Sixteen92 situation* that's happening concurrently in the indie perfume world.

Buying from Synthesizer V isn't in the best spot right now. The main options for third party sellers are either unreliable (AniCute), inaccessible (Taobao), or...awkward (DLSite). It's a big relief that Dreamtonics has a good selection of inhouse voicebanks that are easy to purchase from their site, and it would be amazing if they started stocking third party voices too. A lot of people miss out on options like Anri and Solaria because they aren't shown anywhere on Dreamtonic's official page.

*In summary: Sixteen92 was one of the most popular indie perfumeries, they were known for having long processing times, but were still trusted due to their long history. During the pandemic they experienced delay after delay, but continued to have sale events and new launches. Customers waited years for their purchases, so deep was their trust in the brand.

The owner deleted questions on their Facebook page and refused to answer emails and messages from customers who hadn't received their orders; until eventually it was revealed that the Sixteen92 hadn't been filing taxes in its home state, having essentially dissolved. To this day, they still have a professional looking online presence that sucks in unaware newcomers.

AHS' stream is going on right now. Kanru is there and has announced he'll be the CTO for AHS now. Ogata is also now a board member for Dreamtonics (whilst still the chairman for AHS). They also announced a "High Dynamic Voice Model" for SynthV, which I think it's being shown more tomorrow.

Some new boxes (featuring a new Saki logo), will also be going up for preorder soon. (IMO the logos still aren't that interesting but they do look kind of nice on the black box sdkhg)


Also announced on stream, there's also a Seika plush announced (preorders next month), and Maki's first album's ("JAMping High") preorders will starting tomorrow.

Editing to add that the demo for the High Dynamic Voice Model is out! Looks like it's featuring a yet unheard English female voice. Some existing voice are also used to demo it.

I really like the new features offered, but I think it definitely needs a bit of work to improve it; they weren't kidding when they said finish your current projects before updating because things will change. A couple definitely came out of this better but some are definitely not doing so hot with the update.

I already reverted SOLARIA to her previous version because the update kind of isn't doing it for a current project; her high notes are sounding odd now, and gaps between notes are triggering something sounding like the [cl] function a lot more often it feels, so she's sounding really weird without editing further to take the new update into consideration. Eleanor often sounds like she's ran a marathon and then broke into song as well now.

I kind of wish SynthV had a similar function to CeVIO where you can just access a dropdown to use an older version of a vocal. It'd make swapping back way easier.
