Plus how come they don't think about making a curaçao-based product or more Blue Hawaii ones ? (unless it was done)
I feel bad for the chinese side of the fandom

The main thing that stood out to me in the article: “Our goal is to establish a better image of the industry,”. To who exactly? Who are they trying to impress? I know I don't understanding the culture because I wasn't raised anywhere near it but this sounds so backwards to me. If they are trying to appeal to potential sponsors and investors they are not going to get any from outside of their cultural circle. That must be the goal here right? To stay in the bubble? I guess I answered my questions while thinking it through but it still makes me wonder who this main target of this better image they are trying to make is.

It is like China is the world's biggest Home Owners Association (HOA). They want to control every aspect of your life down to the last detail. It still boggles my mind that over a billion people put up with that crap.
Surprising lack of vocaloid figs from the smaller companies at Wonfes this winter. Goodsmile and Kotobukiya are showing off their figs at their own web galleries the next few weeks but still, it's a bit surprising because you usually can see a few vocaloid figs from smaller companies at this event

I understand the frustration with the license but its there for a reason, to protect Fukase the vp, not sure how much involvement Yamaha even had with the strict license, sounds like something coming from Fukase's end.

edit: besides isn't that a license very similar to Cevio's which is applied to most/all of their vocals? Holding that against Yamaha when it doesn't do such things on regular and is questionable whether it was even their doing and even if it were it was for the sake of Fukase's well being but not against Cevio seems like a double standard.

None of the reply is wrong, but there's a lot of people, especially western vocaloid producers, who want to use Fukase but don't get a response from the people who own him when they ask for a license. I can see how it'd be frustrating. A lot of people don't get company names right either or mistake who owns what (I've seen people refer to cevio as a company and not a software before)
Besides, every vocaloid fan I know loves a good "let's roast yamaha" session (whether it's justified or not...)

It is a valid complaint but it sadly boils down to the target audience being japanese ( however I can't comment on how it is on the jp side of things ) and it should be taken into account that the license isn't coming exclusively through Yamaha, I am not sure whether Yamaha should be at all contacted regarding Fukase's license, but Tokyo Fantasy definitely yes, Yamaha is either partrially or not at all involved ( I am not 100% sure which of the two it is ) and in that retrospect it is a grey area and it's not fair to definitely point fingers at anybody and if you really wanna, Tokyo Fantasy would be a more logical target. And often the mere existence of the license is cited as enterily bad thing when it's simply not as protecting Fukase is a good thing.
There will be no Miku at Coachella this year because there's no Coachella this year

(Also, wear your mask and get your covid shot when it's available. Concerts can't be a thing again until this virus is under control.)

I was never really interested about Coachella but I really liked the idea of a vocal synth being a part of it.

Hard memories. This reminds me of when Coachella was cancelled last year, and then Miku Expo got postponed, and then cancelled. I don't honestly know too much about Coachella, so I don't understand why it's so important, but I've read that for some reason it's been kind of a dream of CFM's to get Miku there. I'd love to see that happen and what CFM does/what possibilities it might open up.

Regarding the virus, I think most everyone here feels similarly, but healing the world really is a global/personal effort. We need everyone to do whatever their part is. For some people, that'll be getting vaccinated. For pretty much everyone, I'd think, that'll include masking, social distancing, maybe giving up some fun stuff for awhile, etc. Just the vaccine/the efforts of government and physicians aren't going to be enough. It's a world problem, and the world is made of people, so all the people will have to do their bit to heal themselves and safeguard those around them. After that, the fun comes back!
I wonder if anything interesting is gonna be announced on tomorrow's Eeyah & Two anniversary stream

Apparently, they're looking into a consultation regarding people who make a living off cosplaying. Mainly just questions of whether or not cosplayers who get paid to do it should also pay a fee to any companies who hold the IPs of certain characters, but still.

^^ That would be nice but knowing how companies and copyright are (With how bad and outdated it is) I guarantee this would end up cracking down on even innocent cosplayers. From what I’ve read Japan doesn’t really have a copyright law on these things (until recently there was a law passed but it was mostly about manga and generally aimed at leakers) they allow transformative works but they’re not necessarily legal as they are in some other countries. So a defined copyright law could actually lead to more trouble not less especially if it isn’t applied with nuance. So an innocent cosplayer could get in trouble as well.
Although this tech sounds cool, I can imagine those who dub anime will be concerned about it

I know this type of technique from Google's research, and I still think this is neat.

I always think about this: If Voiceroid/AI Voice/CeVIO wanted to expand the language capability of their Japanese-speaking talking characters but they don't want to very much deviate the character's nuance, using the technique would be more than amazing. Imagine Yukari, Kotonoha sisters, or Sasara speaks English fluently but still sounds similar like themselves!

I do agree that the voiceover industry (especially in Japan where the industry is also considered vital) more or less will be affected by this.

But “audiences far and away prefer to consume international fare in a dubbed experience versus a subtitled experience,” says Reilly.
Tho in case of the anime fandom outside Japan, or K-drama fandom outside Korea, it's pretty much the opposite due to some reasons haha
