As quick as I was to jump to Olive Town's defense, its replay value is really, really low, at least for more experienced players or anyone wanting something resembling a challenge. I beat the whole game in two in-game seasons and discovered through various searches that that's it; nothing new happens afterwards (except a scene where the mayor makes you feel like the dumbest, least helpful person ever), and the fact that you can see everyone's heart events even after you're married and the lack of romantic dialogue anyway makes the thought of playing again for the sake of going after someone else less appealing.
Hmm... I guess I tend to prefer games that either take a long time and a solid effort to complete (SNES, MM, HoLV, 3oT) or have no solid goals and therefore let you make your own from the get-go (FoMT, SoS, MM once you realize the main plot can be treated like a sidequest). Even on Normal Mode (which I think is the closest this series will ever come to a Hard mode), I kept having to check and make sure I hadn't accidentally chosen Seedling Mode. It was rewarding at first, but now that I've accomplished everything in so little time, with relatively little effort...
At the very least, it's a great game for getting your toes wet.
