  • was there a specified reason why AHS had the same VP for sora haruno as macne coco blk but didnt decide to instead just update the character instead of making a new one? was it something with not getting permission from the macne creators? since they have nana and petit i thought theyd have the ability to make more of the macne cast

I speculate that it's cuz Macne Coco black/white had racist undertones ( macne coco white who has light skin is gentle and responsible while macne coco black has darker skin is apparently lazy and has temper )

@patuk honestly i like macne coco black even if shes a bit questionable LOL yeah..but i doubt the jpn fanbase made a big deal about it (even on the eng side i didnt hear it until just now) so i doubt it was that

also Macne Coco is owned by Nana's company, whereas Sora is owned fully by AHS. That's. an attractive prospect for AHS considering how few of their characters they actually have full control over.
did "Voicing_" get a page on here yet? i dont think im qualified enough to keep one up since i dont speak japanese but it seems to be an independent AI voice synth project and theyre working with canon to make an AI version of ritsu i think im interested
i feel like yukari sounds SLIGHTLY less weak on the cevio engine...idk the difference is very miniscule but i prefer it much more than how she sounds of vocaloid

Maybe just a volume? because every company have different standard loudness control.

@IO+ i dont think its volume IDK just like her voice doesnt taper off as quickly as it does on the vocaloid engine if that makes sense LOL
should i make a thread for any midis or usts or vsqx's people can suggest for me to make? or is there already a specific thread for that kind of thing...

I don't think there is any dedicated thread for any midi or project file, at least as i can see.

uhhh i know this is old but i've found that setting mod to a blank value can help make the vocal sound more talk-like and not so sing-y and on key if that makes sense? also big swooping pitchbends lol

i never used synthv but does it handle notebending like deepvocal and vocaloid do pretty well?

I would personally say that there's no point using notebending method on anything but Vocaloid, because they're already robust enough in terms of pitch manipulations, but I already see people using this method on both the older Editor and Studio, and they sounds well.

I think it handles notebending pretty well—it’s certainly good for when it refuses to let you pitchbend the way you want.

You might have to fiddle with the specifics, but it handles notebending pretty well, yes! As Mahali said, SVS has better pitch control than Vocaloid, but there's still certain tones that you can't achieve with pitchbending that you can with notebending, even in SVS.
wonder if rosa is successful, if theyll move cul to a different engine

I'm not saying that cul is bad or that she wasn't voice acted. It's just that the vocaloid engine especially at that era struggles with rough vocals and gives a nasally tone. You can hear in other vocaloid around that time lily, mayu, and even meiko power. Most producers can easily tune it out or mix it out. I don't know if it was the mic or the recording process of the vocaloid or the engine it's self. But I would love to hear her on another Engine to see what she sounds like.

She'd likely sound the same if not very similar on another engine. Just look at Yukari for example! The difference between her CeVIO and Vocaloid banks are so negligible that it doesn't even warrant people buying her. Eri Kitamura, Mayumi Morinaga, and Yuri Masuda are all pretty nasal singers themselves so it's entirely possible that VOCALOID just made the nasality more prominent - and with the length of VOCALOID samples, you don't really have much room to work with that. While I'd be the first to buy a CUL AI bank, I think it's highly likely she would just end up sounding similar to her VOCALOID VB, but with a bit of engine noise added on top!
is the utau 烏梅/ubai by desk17desk no longer distributed :(? i wanted to reinstall her since i remember loving her voice and design

Ah yeah, one of my friends wanted to DL some UTAU by them as well but all the download links for every single bank are down (and desk17desk hasn't been active on twitter since 2017). I think they're basically good as discontinued unless you can find someone who already has her :(

glad they revealed that solaris's demo was on only 1 pitch. gives me more to hope for (was disappointed by her sound until i found out they recorded the bare minimum which is fine)

Yeah Solaris is going to sound way better. If you look at maki English ai vs standard they sound completely different.

feels strange how theres been a recent boom in vocal synths in general...idve expected it to have happened more around when the general community was bursting like in the early 2010s. not complaining though, hopefully we get a 2nd vocalsynth renaissance or something :3

It definitely feels like there's a bit of a renaissance going on, but it mostly involves synths other than Vocaloid. (If anything, Vocaloid is missing out on the uptick in vocal synth popularity.)

@Blue Of Mind of yeah definetly...but it isnt as like mainstream i guess still? atleast in the west, like you wont see people wearing vocaloid merch in school like u would if u were a kid during the early 2010s like i did i think. maybe its more mainstream over in japan so thats why many companies are hopping on board now

Read an article today about how vocal synths are booming...haha. I think it's just blowing up in a way that was different from 2010-2011. Personally I feel that we are in a second renaissance, with synth v cevio and neutrino all getting a ton of releases. The renaissance just isn't really hitting the fan art/fanfic/merch buying parts of the community, and the weebs largely moved on from vocaloid

Did your entire UTAU freeze up? I had something like this once, but it was a bit ago. My scrollbar turned white too except my entire UTAU window was frozen and I had to close with the task manager.

i had to do a quick google search on what Enka was :clara_ani_lili: Kohaku Merry has a voicebank called 太神楽 (or Daikagura) that was recorded in a tone that was supposed to mimic traditional Japanese style singing, it's 8 pitches and has multiple pitches focused to either being powerful, soft, falsetto, or harsh whispers. If you do end up using her one thing i'd say is that all of her pitches have very powerful/exaggerated vowels so personally I like to use her Ladder vb in combination with her daikagura since sometimes using daikagura alone sounds a bit much lmao. merry's vbs are here and are ordered from oldest to new.

if you end up having any questions about using her i'd be more than willing to help because merry is my utmost fav UTAU and i've been using here for a long time and i just. lov herrrr
