    Logging in to check if I've got any messages, so I wanna confirm what Cafe's said. That particular thread and the toxicity that's ensued in it is part of the issue, and it's an issue that's occurred in the past and has continued in other threads as well. Seeing someone being personally hurt by what's being said and seeing the response play out as "Well, that's on you, and you're wrong, because my opinion on a piece of software matters more than your sense of self-worth" has just... it's not even a sour taste in my mouth. It's outright bitter, like I've just gulped down a whole jar of pure, black coffee. I know that's not an issue with VVN itself per say, and my experience here has been overwhelmingly positive! But lately there's intense, sequestered incidents of toxicity, and it's been going on long enough that I just had enough. I don't have the energy for it right now. I'm not sure what other people's reasonings are, but that's mine, personally.

    Oop. Well it seems like I"m one of those people. Though I haven't been here for long and don't plan on leaving or anything of the sort..just life and priorities is time consuming and before I know it the day is over and I haven't checked vocaverse! Also like to be wary of social media because I struggle with time managment(for instance rn lol) and try not to get on too much for my health. Anyhow no serious issues, but other than that hope others are holding up well :).

    I’ve been considering taking a step back myself (mainly because I was expecting a huge drama bomb over the Ellie demo) because, honestly, social media can be exhausting and it feels like things are bit tense in the vocal synth community at the moment… I don’t mind a little bit of drama every here and then but when things start getting tense or delve into controversial stuff I start to feel uncomfortable and it can be stressful to see all that (starts to feel like, man, we need some positivity!)—I have other things I need to focus on and so tension on social media is something I prefer to avoid.
    As for handling issues… I’ve seen some, I suppose, but they never felt like anything that needed my intervention (although I did attempt to intervene in the Anri thread). :gackpo_lili:
    I hope everyone is doing alright and I want all of you to know that if something on here is bothering you, you can always reach out to the staff. It’s what we’re here for!:sukonetei_smile_lili:

    Coming from mainly utau tuning, I can't believe how helpful portamento timing is in v5. I've been trying to tune in vocaloid the wrong way I guess.

    It basically adds pitch bends at the beginnings and ends of notes automatically with varying intensities, based on what you set each factor to. It’s really neat and helps add character more easily!

    Basically it changes the timing(forward or backwards) of the pitch bend between notes. From vocaloid wiki: This parameter adjusts the starting position of the Portamento (in other words, the pitch sliding between two notes).

    I was thinking getting Miku v4x in the sale would be cool for my birthday, but its 11:20 pm and I haven't gotten it yet. I'm assuming my subconscious is saying that I don't need anymore vocaloids.

    Double post, but the Cowboy Bebop anime is fantastic! It’s a little dated, but figured I had to watch a few eps before the live action version was released.

    If I was only allowed to watch anime from a single year, 1998 might just be the one. (Of course, it wasn't until the early 2000s that we got these series here in the US. Localization took a year or more back then.)

    I have a hard time watching mmd videos at this point, so many use assets from Project Diva and other video games. It really bothers me.

    If they took the time to make every single asset from scratch they'd never get anything done. It takes huge teams of artists and animators to produce 3D set pieces, lighting, and animated sequences. A lone hobbyist isn't going to be able to do that (unless they're already up to a professional skill level).

    Besides, taking professionally crafted things apart and messing around with them is a great way to learn. You're going to flounder around in the dark if you don't know how the real deal is supposed to be built.

    I used mmd for a while(mainly model editing and model part creation) and really my only problem is the legality of ripping assets from games. I know that people used to recreate motions and sets from project diva, but it seems to me like there are less people doing that now.

    New headcanon spurring from a conversation with a friend: Daina is an aspiring farmer. At first my idea was just a small backyard chicken raising operation, but now Daina as an all-around farmer seems better.
