  • I feel a bit sad for Internet Co. They've had their digital VOCALOIDs for 30% off ever since the multi-language AI synthesis capability was released for Synthesizer V. They've put up several end dates for the sale, but they keep extending it.

I imagine it's been difficult for them to sell their digital VOCALOIDs at full price for a while, because the boxed version is much more collectible. And then that update came out, and they realized it's going to be even more difficult, since their competition can give 3 languages for the price of 1 voicebank.

I wonder if this is why they keep collaborating with CFM for the Miku & GUMI collaborations (aside from the concert and CD, there's a For Fans By Fans Create Space event announced recently), to try and drum up hype for their most popular VOCALOID, and hopefully get more sales.

@PearlStarLight5 Oh, is that so? Perhaps my theory was not as sound as I thought. Still, do you know how often they do the big set discounts?

The big set discount, I have only seen once, and just like the tweet, it was the on 12/24.
Capture (Taken from my Gmail, since I'm subscribed to their emails). All of these contain a notification of a Vocaloid sale, but with the exception of Black Friday and the early December sale, these are all after SynthV's cross-lingual synthesis announcement.
Looking further back into my email history, I first got an email about a 30% Vocaloid sale on 7/30 for the August Summer Sale (emails earlier (up to 7/16) did not include Vocaloid sales)
8/20, they extended the sale to 8/31
    Potential gap: 9/1-9/2
9/3, an autumn sale until 9/30
10/1, another sale until 10/14 (i don't even remember that one wow)
10/15, they were not on sale for once
10/22, back on sale but 15% off until 11/1
    Potential gap: 11/2-11/4
    11/5, not on sale

    11/12, 15% off sale until 11/25
11/26, 15% off for Black Friday until 11/30
    Potential gap: 11/31-12/2
    12/3, 15% off holiday sale until 12/23
12/24, the crazy bundle sale until 1/13
    Potential gap: 1/14-1/20
    1/21, 30% off sale until 1/27
1/28, another 30% off winter sale until 2/24
    2/25, 30% off until 3/4
    3/4, extended into 3/24

Okay I'm gonna go back and underline when they were (possibly) not on sale lol

I haven't been in the fandom long enough to know if they've always done this, but I have thought about before if it has anything to do with Internet not making any V5s. And now that you mention SynthV, I wonder how Rosa's SynthV will affect all this (well, even if her Cevio is already out, that's a talking vb so)

I'm kinda wondering if they keep having sales because their Vocaloids were made for older versions of the software? Forgive me if I alarm anyone, but regular sales are usually a sign that a Vocaloid might be retired in the future. But in the case of Internet Co.'s Vocaloids (and especially considering Gumi is their main mascot), I don't think this is likely.
To be honest, I'm a little unimpressed with the CeVIO Pro editor, but I'm not going to be too mean about it because it's still in it's Alpha version (also it's free now and will remain free, even when the full version comes out). Not that I've come across bugs or I think it's terrible, but the improvements thus far are minimal when compared to CeVIO AI. I'm not sure it justifies making a new editor. (In my opinion.)

CeVIO's engine noise doesn't bother me, so I don't see a need for a new vocoder. I don't use Mac, so I don't need Mac compatibility. I believe those were the reasons that they chose to make it a new editor, and both of which I don't care about or want.

So... maybe I'm just not the target audience, despite being someone who enjoys CeVIO Creative Studio and CeVIO AI. :clara_ani_lili:

I walked away from the CeVIO Pro experience wishing they just added the huskiness parameter, (slightly) improved automatic AI tuning, and the semi-English compatibility as an update for CeVIO AI instead of going out of their way to make a whole new editor.

Chis-A is a great voicebank though, I have no complaints about her.

I saw on Twitter that if you use the freeze function the quality greatly improves

@Prism This post is about how I find the new editor mostly unnecessary because the main reasons for making the new editor are largely irrelevant to me specifically, not that I dislike the output quality from CeVIO Pro.

I might try that freezing thing later to see if it works though.
People are starting to get their Stardust Infinity pre-orders! :stardust_lili:

Distribution is being done manually, so it might take a little while for her to arrive for some people.

    (I hope mine arrives soon!)
My boyfriend broke up with me on Valentine's Day, so... I'm sad, to say the very least. :kaito_lili:💔

I might not be very social for a bit, is all, and it will probably take me extra time to respond to messages and things.

I'm singing my favourite songs and watching silly videos to try and cheer up before I have to go to work this afternoon.
Sometimes I am tempted to get some of the VSingers (specifically Mo Qingxian and Yuezheng Longya) but to be honest, I don't know enough Chinese songs that I could cover to justify buying them. (Also it's rather difficult to track down VSQs and USTs of Chinese songs... Or at least that's been my experience. Maybe I'm looking in the wrong places.)

Maybe I'll get Luo Tianyi's Japanese VBs some day, since I like the tone of JPN Natural and non-native VBs don't bother me. (Also the box art is really pretty.)

Tianyi JPN has some samples from a native Japanese speaker, right? Still, I don't think that 100% gets rid of the accent. It's okay though; I like accents. Makes the voice more distinct and memorable in my opinion.

I feel that a lot with most of the non English vocal synths. It's kinda the reason why I'm excited for the medium 5 update.

Tianyi's jpn normal vb is voiced by Shan Xin (her old vp) and her sweet vb is voiced by a native Japanese utaite named Kano. Shan Xin also knows Japanese, and in addition to that Kano was helping her with recording the normal vb, so it has very little accent. Her range is as big as the range of her Chinese vbs, and overall she is fairly easy to use, so as a Tianyi fan I definitely recommend getting her if you think that you won't have much use for any of the Chinese vsinger vbs

@Prism Yeah, I'm looking forward to the Medium 5 updates too!

@aru yi Yes, I did notice that even when listening closely, Tianyi JPN doesn't have much of an accent. I was a bit surprised by it on my first listen, since most non-native banks do have noticeable accents, but it made sense when I read your reply.

I wonder if Tianyi will have JPN for V5 as well, but since the Chinese V5s haven't released yet, I'm not going to anticipate it happening soon.
To be honest, I would not be on Twitter at all if not for 4 things:
    1. Twitter-exclusive sales
    2. Twitter-exclusive giveaways
    3. Official vocal synth social media accounts giving consistent updates about new voicebanks and merch
    4. Pretty vocal synth artwork that I wouldn't be able to find without the Twitter algorithm
I would not even look at Twitter otherwise.

i feel it. i really dont like using twitter at all, but a lot of news gets posted there and a lot of people use it in general so often its good to post my works there as well.... and i follow people back that i know but i do hate looking at it sometimes. i often mute everyone except for news/official account, to which i often turn off the retweets for.... but i wish i didnt feel required to use it to keep up with stuff
If any of you buy Ryo, can you @ me or reply to this status with WIPs and/or completed covers featuring him? I'd like to hear more examples with him before I choose whether or not to buy him myself.

I'm tempted to get him but I want to make sure I like him first.

It is so graceful in every way~ However I don't know if it's because they'd see her as ageing like a real human, or the model, or both but this model makes her look like a young adult or a Final Fantasy character =o But still pretty, especially the eyes, and the arms move very well and smooth, which is often the weak points of 3D models
If any of you have been wanting the GUMI and Otomachi Una plushies, they are now available for pre-order. They are made-to-order only, and the preorder period will end on February 14th in Japan. If you want them, be sure to order them by then.

I know it's late at night (at least in my time zone anyway), but here's the cover I made for the first CeVIO Create Festival.

It will be added to a video of a screen-capture of CeVIO AI, and then uploaded to Nico Video and YouTube some time later tonight. I'm barely making the deadline for the event and I definitely did rush this, but I hope it's good anyway. It will be added to my cover thread when the video is done.
Stardust Infinity might be my new favourite voicebank.

Which is making me feel a bit conflicted, because Yukari has been my most favourite for a really long time, and I don't want that to change.

I know it's ultimately Not Really A Big Deal, they're just instruments with characters attached, it's fine if my favourite changes, and I can still like both of them a lot, but... Yukari :kaito_lili:

I'm autistic, so I tend to get really attached to my favourite things, and when it changes, it can be a bit stressful for me. That's all. :kyo_ani_lili:

(I had a similar upset reaction when I had to change my computer a few years ago, since the previous one started malfunctioning. I was kind of sad for about a week, until I got used to the change.)

I can relate to you a lot. I also tend to feel sad when I have to tell a something that I’m already used to. And I had a similar situation to yours when I started to like Tianyi more than Una. It was frustrating at first, but I quickly overcame it. So don’t worry about that much :>

It's always fine to have two (or more!) favourites. Sometimes you just can't pick and that's absolutely fine. Even when your #1s are bordering 10 or more voicebanks. You know you still love them, even if you're focusing on something else. :chika_ani_lili:

I feel you. I have a meltdown whenever I have to change anything in my life. Especially if i haven't been prepared for it days or weeks in advance.:ring_ani_lili:
There's more masculine vocal demos for Synthesizer V! I think the English voice is the one that Dreamtonics is still making, and the Japanese voice is likely from AHS Edit: my mistake, the Japanese voice is also from Dreamtonics. I love the Japanese voice, so pretty. :rion_lili:

Hmm.. Listening to the latest released song with the NT voicebanks.

I really hope that this is a result of weird tuning and too much compression/effects, and not the quality they are going for overall for the NT voicebanks.

I enjoy using CeVIO AI, but it takes so long to fix the automatic pitch tuning. :ring_ani_lili:

I'm the type of person who adjusts every single note anyway, regardless of what engine I use (except NEUTRINO because there isn't an official UI as far as I know), so tuning always takes me forever to do. I'm used to the time it takes and don't mind it as much as other people seem to, but still. I'm glad I'm done with that part on my current WIP. :kyo_ani_lili:
I'm working on a song cover for the first CeVIO Creative Festival with Yukari Rei. I have to hurry because the last day for submissions is the 30th of this month (which will be the 29th because of time difference for me) and this is a song on the longer side (about 4 minutes) with 3 vocal tracks. :clara_ani_lili:

I probably should have picked a shorter and easier song, but I've put in too much effort into this one already to choose something else.

@Aru Yi It's an event that's being held on Twitter, Nico Video, and Pixiv. It seems to be an unofficial fan event where, between January 22 and 30, people can post CeVIO-related creative works tagged with 第1回CeVIOクリエイト祭. I think the content will also be added to special lists on each respective website for the event? It seems they want to make it a yearly event as well. I don't think it is a contest as there isn't any prize advertised, just a way to encourage the usage of CeVIO Creative Studio and CeVIO AI. I think both talk and song works will be accepted, as well as song covers. To be honest, I don't know all of the details since I don't know enough Japanese (and I'm using Google Translate of Tweets to get the information), but here's the Twitter thread about it:

For anyone who likes Bighead: he was defending NFTs last night. This Tweet is so comical as to appear to be satire upon first glance, but by reading the replies and other Tweets he makes, you can see he is serious about this.

It is confirmed that he has minted his own NFT as well, posted in this Tweet here:

He is also a confirmed crypto miner, posted in this Tweet here:

He was probably "inspired" by Kikuo also making NFTs. :xinhua_lili:

Why is it that these guys think they're being so edgy and cool by making NFTs? Are their lives really so boring that this is their idea of "rebellion"?
I made a vocal synth ranking on tiermaker, separated by version and expression. Includes every Vocaloid, Synthesizer V, CeVIO, NEUTRINO, and Alter/Ego voicebank that has been publicly released, as well as some that will be coming soon. (I think I got them all, but if I'm missing some, let me know.) I made this because I noticed that all the other tiermakers lacked version and expression differences, and I know it's not uncommon to have different feelings about different versions and expressions. Alright, I edited the original status with the new version that has every bank. (Had to delete the old template because I couldn't remove the incorrect Xin Hua JPN bank.) If anyone notices any other mistakes, let me know so I can fix it.
I'm still sick, but I'm going to work on covers anyway because I'm super bored and tuning is fun. :anri_lili: I'll be sure to take frequent breaks as well to account for having less energy.
