  • oh god i just rendered a clip of solaria after having it on ryo and i guess... it didnt rerender properly because her voice keeps swapping back to ryo in the middle of words lmao
honestly at this point i cant see myself buying a standard vb for Synth V ever-- the only one i have is eleanor's first bank which i got before Pro even came out. and im not saying standard banks are bad, but.... idk i find a hard time being appealed by them when theyre mostly ending up non-english, and AI banks have cross language now. its interesting how it feels like AI banks are becoming the default for synth v...? mostly with the numerous opinions i see still disliking them. but ever since cross language, its made me actually want to buy banks i typically wouldnt due to language.

i sure got used to making japanese voices in vocaloid sing english, but i pretty much only contained myself to v Flower because it still felt like a waste to hope id like the voice enough after painstakingly work them into singing english.... now, i dont have to worry about it. better yet, i dont have to worry about the language at all! because they can still fluently sing japanese, or hell even chinese.
its cool hearing oddeeo use solaria since im so used to all his songs using avanna (and sometimes gumi)- which she always sounds great in regardless of the high range his songs use (theres something charming about her robotic-ness, mostly with his style of music) but its very welcomed hearing a voice like solaria in his songs too, reaching that range.... wonder if he'll use her more in the future
i am quite sure i keep unsubbing from emvoice emails. but i still keep getting them.

I think most email services let you create rules to automatically file/delete/do other stuff with emails. Or you can probably mark them as spam. So if their unsub feature doesn't work, you're not stuck :) .

yeah ill probably do that lol, ive been getting emails for a few years now and i just always forget because theyre so far in between...
i do have to keep wondering and worrying if ci flower will get moe-ified in a sense with her voice, kind of like what we saw with IA (and in some sense, kafu, but she was changed for other reasons. still, Cevio has a record of these cuter voice types now)-- flower's popularity certainly picked up a lot over time but i and im sure others have seen the more and more popular usage of her with a higher Gen. cant deny that people make her higher pitched and cuter a lot, even the most popular flower artists who i like, do this with every song....
all i can hope for at this point is maybe her just sounding like her talk bank- its a nice balance of her boyish tone but a little more lax and neutral. idk if they would dare keep up her "rock" angle in a cevio bank, mostly with her design not hinting at it at all. but if she lost her boyish voice it just... wouldnt really be right. even if people use her with high gen, i think her appeal is still partially on her being a less typically femme voice.
i am going to release one final vb for Xed since i had one fully oto'd vcv bank i did in 2020, but i just need to....power through and make the web page for my utau downloads... i got the demo and all that done just. no web page lol

its true to say a lot of the dreamtonics voices feel similar and i think they do, but i still they they also all have just enough of their own tone too. i think they only sound similar beccause dreamtonics isnts trying to make "character" voices that are heavily voice acted... theyre supposed to sound natural and neutral. i do think the issue means i see no need to buy them But their quality and various strengths are still worth it
not to compare voices in a way that undermines what is unique about them but Something about feng yi's tone was feeling so familiar as i used her, and i realized it was reminding me of vy1 a bit. which is a compliment, i sometimes get sad i sold vy1 so... now i can relive her in feng yi lol
idk why i always forget about moresampler when testing my utau- i think i grew to not using it bc i was mostly too lazy to type moresampler.exe into both boxes when i opened ustand how i was too lazy to remember what alkl the special flags actually did haha... and i usually disliked the engine noise it created. but i think its similarities to synth v's sounds and how i have grown to like synth v more are suddenly making me like moresampler more??? and now that im not lazy im realizing how interesting all the flags actually are to getting the right sound. and it sounds pretty good with my newest banks...hm.
this was my last/most recent vcv attempt (only with a moresampler oto) that i recorded before i decided i didnt want to go through the effort of recording a vcv bank lol. it was supposed to be softer on purpose but i had some weird quality issues compared to other banks for some reason

This is cool! I do really like the overall quality of the voice, not in the UTAU sense but in the sense of the voice itself. Keep up the good work!

is eleanor ai going to get the uhh vocal modes? whatever theyre called? idk why i forgot about her but every other AI release from dreamtonics is getting them, i know shes technically developed by volor so... idk what theyre up to but i wouldve expected something by now...? at least an idea if they were going to implement it at all, which i havent heard

All AIs will get vocal modes down the line, dreamtonic vbs were the 1st to get them cuz theyre in-house vbs, now dreamtonics is in contact with other companies and they're in the works.

thats makes sense yeah, since ele isnt developed by dreamtonics. though ive already heard from a few existing companies with AI banks stating they will, and just havent heard anything specific from Volar (unless i missed it!)
if im gonna stick with CV going forward, i may look into deepvocal too? maybe? at least as i understood you could kinda make whatever vb in deepvocal so long as you have a reclist right? i havent touched that software since before it become like utau lol

deepvocal is exclusively CVVC-based, you can theoretically port your CVs but it's not recommended, and no, DV is more limiting in languages than UTAU, it's primary limitation being no support for consonant clusters, you can work around it but it will always have inferior results than if you were to do it in UTAU

^ And if you still wanna try out, you gotta record A LOT due to the indie issue (hence why I'm getting so slow with Mylène and having to rework on her list x_x"' However I did hear a nice spanish bank but that's it, whether English or other complex languages, it's limiting them)

ahh i see, thats what i was thinking but i have seen some other not-conventional VB types in deepvocal, so i wasnt entirely sure how it functioned. i may look into it some day out of curiuousity but yeah i have always gotten the vibe that its quite limiting and definitely not as easy to use (mostly when it first came out), but wasn't sure how the VB structure worked since i have seen some people attempt different think with it.
huh. i had a dream dreamtonics was releasing another Letter voicebank and its name was Xone, a gender neutral english voice.... its colors were yellow and purple
in relation to my status about utaus, i think i may revert to CV banks for now- aside from the work that goes into VCV i am struggling to commit to a VCV because of my voice lol. its been almost a full year on T and i just dont want to put work into a bank and have my voice change too much and have to rerecord- id rather rerecord a CV bank.

i think theres also always some underlying expection in this community that a 'good' utau is one recorded in a format like VCV (or perhaps CVVC but VCV is just normalized a lot) but, i want to put away that expectation so i can actually enjoy working on my utau regardless.

If you feel like a Cv fits better, go for it ! Don't let anyone push you down for going with a simple bank

After all, Cv are fine and can even shine more than fellow types as all depends on recording quality, emotion (don't get me wrong but it's always important and not only for voice-acting) and configurations since you may have a VCV that has a nice quality but sounds meh because the configurations need to be improved or it was recorded with barely any "life" in it (it doesn't mean sounding like an hyperenergetic anime girl high on sugar, it can even be a subtle emotion)

It's like those who want VCV or CVVc because they're more at ease, then they do it, so same should be for CV makers

And just one prime example of a very good CV, well-configured that sure is old but is still pretty impressive :

(There are fresher examples but this one was so impressive back in the time that I still remember it after all those years)

very true! i have heard some real nice CV banks before and honestly ill always prefer a bank that is well configured and easy to use regardless of the type of VB it is.
seeking out people's uses of an xiao of course, trying to see what his range and ability is like bc first impression does feel like a stronger ryo. and boy, this cover... this is nice
    morrysillusion

he sounds like he handles low range really well.... my negatives about ryo when i got him were that he didnt hndle low ranges very well (and i dont think he sounded very good with GEN used either).. i dont think im gonna buy An because really i have no use for him but, i do hope synth v continues to focus on their lower range stuff because it was Not working very well before

Oh yeah, I think all of them are unique in certain ways, and I like them all. I do like that An Xiao seems somewhat stronger. His lows are really nice!
idk if its just me but whenever it comes to utau and recording i always see ppl talk about how 'easy' it is and seeing people throw up 6 pitch vbs is always surprising to me because honestly? i have never really....enjoyed the process much.... no its not horrendous but, it really isnt *that* easy tbh. i mean, its a lengthy process. even my quickest and sloppiest recordings of a 1 pitch vcv took 45 minutes.... not even including the time to oto it. 45 minutes of staring at my screen and recording samples is not exactly easy nor hard, but just tedious, monotonous...

idk. i always feel like im far behind what i should be doing with utau when i look at others. i do it for fun but it also drains me quite a bit, probably not helped by my innattention (and the natural feeling utau gives of just wanting to see the end results ASAP). id love to do more with it but... everytime i sit down and even record one vcv pitch im just like... god idk when im gonna sit down and do that again. the results are cool but i am finding it hard to branch out to the 'high quality' bank types when they also often take even longer to record.

I kinda gave up trying to record new voicebanks for my UTAU. I have pretty weak lungs and anything other than a simple CV voicebank is just so exhausting to me. Sat there for 3 weeks, recording everyday just to try to finish 1 pitch for a VCV voicebank.. and it's still not done 😭 recording is not easy at all

Omg hopefully I'm not being rude with unsolicited advices 😭 but VCVs are overall a massive pain to record/oto, CVVC is much easier on a person, for an easy one I'd go for this one.

ive grown to quite like the CV voices after some time of finding them easier to record tbh... ive even considered trying to record a CV-like english voice but, at that point understandability becomes harder than it is with japanese which is a shame :/ at this point i may revert to CV entirely with whatever addons i please to make it a little smoother....
