  • I’m not even an artist and I’m taken aback by the news about CSP. I don’t like subscription services in general but I’ll still pay them if I know I’m gonna use them, because they’re usually fairly low and I only have to worry about them once a year.

A program whose entire appeal was only requiring a one-time purchase now requiring MONTHLY payments??? I can only imagine the sheer betrayal the artist community is feeling.

    Viete, zvyčajne neobhajujem pirátstvo, ale...
Phew! Finally finished up my first cover in CeVIO AI. The original's an ooolllllld song using Kaito and Meiko's V1s, so I figured CeVIO's quirks might give the song a similar charm that KaiMeiV1's choppiness gave it, and I'm actually quite proud of the end result!

It might take longer than usual to mix because I was so used to my regular headphones and I'm still getting used to these new ones, so I'm gonna have to double- and triple-check everything. Wish me luck!
Okay, KFP Stan Period Part 3* aside, I am determined to figure out a way to get a quality off-vocal for this song, not just because it's KFP-affiliated, but because dammit it's catchy. I could work my magic in Ace and bring some much-deserved attention to it!
    *Part 1, 2011-2013ish; Part 2, 2015-2017; Part 3, 2022-present.

This also seems like a good time to remind everyone that Tigress' Slovak VP is Sex and Sensuality Encapsulated. I want her to step on me.

My headphones went kaput, so I took advantage of the sale over at Sweetwater and got another pair overnighted to me! They're... they're different. They're by the same company as my old cans, but the sound is different, more geared towards low frequencies (which is literally a feature highlighted in the product description so I'm not sure why that surprises me). Still, the sound quality is good, plus they're quite comfy and stylish, so overall I'm happy!
Discovering the Slur function in CeVIO is honestly a life-changing happenstance for me (though it was less a happenstance and more Patuk saying "Hey, check out this cool feature, it eliminates that weird glottal stop between every vowel transition!"). My God, I'm so happy, I can actually make them sound smooth now~
Yeesh. Given the, ah, revelations surrounding SymphOneme’s artist, I must say I’m almost relieved it sounds like shit generally low-quality, because now I have no particular reason to like it and can safely ignore it henceforth. Though I still shamelessly find Toga Lady hot and will happily accept fanart of her from other, less morally depraved artists, because hot damn.
Well, I've officially hit a wall. Sold a few of my VBs on Discord, but when I tried posting an updated list, I accidentally had a few repeats listed. I pissed off and/or annoyed the entire thread, so I quietly fixed it and then posted it again, but I know nothing's going to come of it because I blew it. Gonna try Twitter one more time, and from there... I don't know. I honestly don't know.

To make matters all the more rosy, I got another bill last night. The first nurse that tried taking my blood absolutely botched it (that bruise took nearly a month to go away) and the sample clotted before they could do anything with it, so they had to take my blood again. I didn't even realize they charge you extra when stuff like that happens.

And! And, get this! That week I was hospitalized? It counted against me at work. I'm allowed 6 unexcused absences/sick days per year, and I had one when I was hospitalized. Now I have eight, because apparently a guy with a PhD saying "Hey, this chick is currently under 24/7 observation and can't even go outside" isn't a good enough excuse. The only reason it didn't get me fired is because the store manager knows I'm trustworthy, but literally one single slip-up, be it being late or just not being able to come in, and I'll be unemployed.

I'm halfway to seeking out something more seedy to make do, but I don't have the stamina, skill, or body for something like exotic dancing and I refuse to get Up Close and Personal with anyone but the woman I intend to marry, so even that isn't really an option. Hmm. There's gotta be more I can do. I've just gotta try harder.
The past few days have been strange. I've been sad - not depressed, just sad - but a series of really nice things have happened. Two customers sent me handwritten letters of thanks, yesterday one brought Oreo milkshakes for me and all of my coworkers, I ran into my dad while getting lunch before work and he paid for it and I got to chat with him for a while, I've gotten to train our three new hires and apparently they're all very fond of me.

I'm not used to sadness without depression. It's put me in a melancholy mood, and that combined with the motivation I've been granted thanks to a good week has made me oddly productive. I've written quite a bit, made dents in my tuning, completed all of July's Mondly Slovak lessons and aced the test on the first try... it's all really strange, but I can't say I hate it.

And I'll sure as hell take this over a pure depressive episode any day!
Hmm... Try has more English than Mandarin and I can't think of a male English/Mandarin pair that would sound good (no I will not use SynthV crosslingual, none of the male AI banks sound anything other than painfully bored to me) and Deep, as dearly as I love it, doesn't have an off-vocal, and it gets absolutely SHREDDED if I try running it through an audio extractor.

So if I can't celebrate KFP4's announcement by covering one of the third movie's Mandarin promotion songs, I'll celebrate in spirit by covering another favorite by the guy who also sang Deep! A (very odd and poorly-placed notebend-happy) VSQ of it exists, and Quehe sounds SO good in it~ now to draft up a new Ace MIDI for it!

Not me deadass starting up a PingLi fic six years after that pairing went out of vogue I say as if literally anyone other than me and one RP blog on Tumblr ever shipped it

And I still don't know if Li's supposed to be the bastard's family name or his given name, they're written in the same order in both English and Mandarin so I'm getting super mixed signals

Every Mandarin/Chinese source I can find always uses the full writing of his name instead of just one or the other, so I'd just as soon say Li Shan's supposed to be a single name (like Haiyi's name can be written as Hai Yi, but is meant to be one cohesive whole), but since he's called Li in English... hmm. Maybe it's both? Li Shan is his whole given name (and we just never learn his family name) but Li is a nickname? Hhhhhhhhhhhh why am I stressing out over this
I've had great success so far selling my Vocaloids! I've got $200 now to put towards the easing of my circumstances. Granted, my own idiocrity nearly screwed that up... I fumbled and thought I sent the wrong code to a person who bought one, only for it to be a false alarm. I'm now stress-eating Oreo ice cream and Lucy (my youngest daughter, who is a cat) is desperately trying to sneak a lick.

Phew. Exhausting work, but if I can keep it up it'll be well worth it!

I was wondering how much of your collection you’ve parted with, if that’s not too intrusive or anything. (I find secondhand voca sales very interesting for some reason.)

So far I’ve sold Miku V4X/V4 English, Gumi English, and Sweet Ann! I’ve made just a little over $200, which is definitely a good start 😭
While visiting my Oklahoma-based family on Monday, I introduced my dad to Mondly. He's like me in that languages fascinate him, and in his line of work he has many New American customers who speak a wide variety of languages, especially Urdu-speaking Pakistani immigrants. He was delighted to learn Mondly offers Urdu courses, so after a bit of chatting, I convinced him to let me sign him up and walked him through the general layout and course flow.

My stepmother has now informed me that I'm no longer allowed to introduce him to new apps, because he's been practicing Urdu from the moment he gets home to the moment he goes to bed. I've created a monster, a glorious, beautiful monster.
Honestly, I think Gumi’s AI Voice is a MASSIVE step up from Megpoid Talk. It’s a lot smoother and retains her tone to an extent that she’ll work just fine alongside her Vocaloid banks.

I know it’s unlikely, but it makes me wish for a Gakupo AI Voice something FIERCE. I would have so much fun with that, holy shit.

Ah, I haven’t written Vocaloid fanfiction in ages, but now I wanna write something with both of them. I headcanon Gakupo as fairly stoic but kinda dense and easily flustered, and Gumi as his hyperactive tomboyish sister that he would kill for in a heartbeat (though she’s more likely to kill than he is, let’s be real). I honestly love the dynamic I made for them and I would like to explore it more, honestly.
Sometimes, when you're physically and emotionally exhausted, you slam down a quarter of a bottle of NyQuil to ensure you get a solid twelve hours of sleep. And sometimes, when you're off your rocker on NyQuil, you send messages to your girlfriend at two in the morning that you have no memory of sending.

This week has been so GOOD to us bisexuals holy fuck we are BLESSED

New cover going up at Noon CT! The lovely Luan Ming strikes once more~

Me: "I'd like to use Tarara next! I'll listen to some covers using her to get inspiration for what would fit her voice best."

Me, ten minutes and six covers exponentially better than anything I can do later: "Or maybe I should just take a break from covers for a few weeks or a year or five~"

What kind of problems are you having with it? I'm not a veteran myself as I'm still new to the program, but I could try and help you figure it out if you want:agree:

I guess it’s just that I’m not used to the workflow. There’s not a whole lot I can do to mold the vocals, so my usual workflow is rendered moot.

I feel you, Cevio AI is quite different compared to other synths and it takes a bit to get used to; you can do it though! And if you ever needed some help, just ask :agree:
