  • I’ve been working on a cover of Bug by Kairiki Bear for a bit now. It’s based on the Project Sekai version, so 4 utau plus a vocaloid. Here is a WIP for it: (it’s minus Fukase for now cuz I’m still working on the tuning, but otherwise the utau tuning is like 90% done. Idk how I’m gonna mix this. :/ )
I don’t know if it’d be in bad taste because of the current political climate, but I really want to cover 1 2 fanclub. ):

I feel you, it's like how I never dared to cover Patrick Juvet's I love America when Trump was in the office =/
Just found out that Jackpot Sad Girl disses on Sand Planet. I love it.

I'm still not over how I loooved Sand Planet and then I read the KurageP interview where he gets ticked off about it and then went, "Screw Sand Planet all my friends hate Sand Planet" :teto_lili: I miss the days when I interpreted it as a song about just being in a creative rut instead of spitting on the Vocaloid scene sjflkds

Yeah at first I thought it was like a call to action to revitalize the vocaloid scene, but then I realized that it was about Hachi's more negative views of the vocaloid scene. And it just hasn't sat well with me since. (It really bugs me whenever someone says that vocaloid is dead. As in the vocal synthesizer scene not the software.)
Anyone know what the deal is with VocalMorph software? I’m seeing uses of it on YouTube, but no info about it.

Like what does it do, why are people using it, just general info about it. It’s odd that there seems to be no online presence for it except some talk on twitter.

It's basically xsy but with any audio. I think it is Japanese of origin and made by the person who made vocalshifter or the person who made that one software that lets voiceroids sing but I'm not too sure

It was made by Suzumofu, the person who created Kotonosync but also another program with the same purpose called Kotonofader, among other things.
Umm, I'm really liking RIME. She sounds like a chill Flower and I'm loving it. Probably the first CeVIO AI voice I've seriously considered getting at some point in the future. edit: Also Toa's and Inabakumori's uses of her are pretty amazing.
BANZAI! digital trippers is sooo good! I wasn’t sure if MitchieM’s tuning of Miku would sound ok with Aqours, but it actually works very well.
Ok the live action Sailor Moon pilot wasn’t that bad, especially considering it came from the 90’s. 90’s children’s tv was just really cheesy. xD

the karaoké center being the headquarter was very cute too and I liked the room and the arc with Mio was interesting plot-wise (just like Dark Mercury moments, or even the interesting take on Princess Sailor Moon, it was disarming getting a very strong character that could be neither a hero or a villain, but a subtle in-between reflecting the pain Serenity had when losing Endymion in the attack) and regarding the natural hair colour when being in civilian mode, it actually makes sense because I've always felt strange how people wouldn't be able to recognize a magical girl if they just look like themselves cosplaying a fantasy character ; hence why I truly liked that both in the Mermaid Melody manga and the anime, that Lucia looks very different when she's in human form and when she's back to her mermaid/idol states so it makes perfectly sense they look like girls next door and then go exuberant-looking once transformed so people can barely recognize them when they're fighting

And while in the beginning I was wary towards it too, now i feel like the cast was well-chosen (also Sailor Jupiter the best <3 ) especially the actresses playing Ami, Minako and Usagi (also Queen Beryl's)

However it was in the 90's ? I thought it was made during early 2000's ? =o Unless you talk about another series ? 3/3

I was talking about this pilot episode for an english live action from ‘94 that was scrapped, but I’ve seen the live action series and loved it! It’s so cheesy, but the storyline changes are so much fun. Really agreat series.

Aaaaah yeeeah that one I've quickly seen a glimpse a little while ago when people talked about it on the web (don't rememnber where it was, i guess it was on utaforum ? )

The cartoony part still looks like the strange lovechild of Jem & the Holograms, Sailor moon and some series à la He-Man
A discounted Reaper liscense is $60 and has free upgrades until ver 7.99.(the current version is 6.66) Once it hits version 8 you’ll need a new license to get updates, but it’s been in ver 6 for a bit so 8 is probably a few years off. Idk why CELSYS can’t do something sane with CSP like what is being done with Reaper.
Trying out lineless art while waiting for my IEMs to arrive on sunday. So far so good. (Also had a faint pink line on a covid home test today so going to get a pcr test done on sunday too.)
My mom gave me a little bit more to spend so I ordered a set of in-ear monitors instead of fussing with earbuds anymore. They should arrive on Sunday! The msrp is 300, but amazon currently has them for 230 and they get very very good reviews across the board so hopefully they fit ok and sound good. (I feel weird going into the pro side of things when I’m really just a hobbyist, but I have so many sensitivities and get migraines very easily that it’s hard to find audio equipment that works. :/)
Gumi's AI Voice design is so cute! I wonder who did the artwork for her.
Back to the drawing board with earbuds. The airpods were great, but now they won’t connect to my pc at all and that was the point. :(
So I used to think tuning in vocaloid was harder than tuning in utau, but now it’s the opposite. Even only using pitch bends and fiddling with portamento timing, it’s still easier than utau tuning now.

I feel like what most people perceive as easier depends on what they start with. UTAU users will say that UTAU tuning is easier, and Vocaloid users will say Vocaloid is easier. I do think that sinking proper time into both will help you decide which is easier, though.

Yeah I started in 2012 with utau and 2016 with vocaloid, so probably enough time has passed that I’m able to more objectively compare the two.

Why is it so hard to find wired earbuds that are not bass attenuated??

Though, AFAIK, Airpods are wireless, now that I think about it.... You might get good results from other, wired, Apple headphones, though.

I feel the wired Sony XB (extra bass) lineup pretty good in terms of bass, for example the MDR-XB55, they give a very warm sound but not overwhelming bass and still have the Sony signature "club" sound, very balanced and pleasant to listen for hours :miku_ani_lili:
also the MDR-EX lineup is very good, a bit less bass but still incredible, especially when the base models have prices of 2000-4000yen (in Japan you can find a bigger lineup of headphones)

Thank you so much for your suggestions, but I think I didn’t word my original post correctly. I was looking for balanced/natural sounding earbuds, which it turns out are very pricey and end up being aimed at professionals. I was gifted a pair of balanced open back headphones a while back and normally I use those for mixing and casual listening, but the right speaker is not behaving properly lately.(Ultrasone 2990i‘s. They are amazing headphones, but I’ve found the company very hard to deal with.)

I ended up getting Airpods Pro since I’m on ios and they’ll only be used for listening and tuning. The bass isn’t too bad actually and using them on ios is pretty seamless.
It feels like Dreamtonics is making the users the beta testers.

There was conspiracies that this is all to make Weina look better in the long run, but honestly I don't believe it. But I am concerned about the quality issue like they have a growing cast that can have nuances so I can understand that they can have quality control issues. I hope this is a sign for them to take more care about the quality of synthesis

I'm wondering if Dreamtonics should have official beta testers so this kind of thing stops happening so frequently.

@Blue Of Mind honestly that would probably be wise. They’re not a tiny startup anymore; surely they can afford official beta testers, and if not, I know plenty of people would happily apply for such a task.
