I've heard of this situation vaguely but don't know a ton, could you educate me on what's happened?

I don’t think we actually have any solid information about specifically what is happening behind the scenes with the kagerou project IP beyond the fact Jin is pursuing legal action against 1st PLACE in an effort to regain control of the IP. What specifically is owned by 1st PLACE is kind of unclear but I think it basically boils down to 1st PLACE owning kagepro “as an entity” which means anything explicitly including its story and characters is under their jurisdiction. I’m not sure what friction between 1st PLACE and Jin occurred, but it’s easy to imagine given their other interesting business moves…

It was probably a great partnership in the beginning, (kagepro had tons of media expansion) but now for whatever reason we’re not privy to, he can’t publish new music despite publicly stating he’s extremely invested in it (to the extent that he said he’ll keep making kagepro until he dies) and absolutely nothing has come from the tv anime Mekakucity Reload announcement.

I really want to see more kagepro but most importantly nobody should own Jin’s project but Jin, especially not this project. So I really really hope it works out in his favor…

EDIT: So apparently there’s been some new developments on this recently that are pretty concerning/weird… yikes… But I’ll leave someone better informed to explain ( ;∀;) I gotta look into this more myself
