I'm sorry but I strongly disagree.

This is saying it under the pretense that any of this is in good faith when it's coming from a place of hate, the fact is that the V6 engine is being worked on and features are being developed for it as we speak, the existing features are underplayed by the same crowd ( expression, which is often omitted in such debates, can turn Fuiro into soft vb with falsetto into a strong belting vb ), Yamaha is taking suggestions through inquiries, the right steps are being taken, initiative is being taken and it's currently work in progress and the way the disappointment is being expressed servers no productive purpose but to create hostile toxic environment, it's so hateful and vitriolic to a point that it maliciously spreads misinformation about said products.

The statement about "paying more for less" is untrue too because unlike it's competitors, V6 comes with 8 starter vocals, so more comes in packaged, which can be criticism by it's own merit, but makes the statement "paying more for less" untrue, especially when starting with the same amount of vocals with any other editor would be significantly more expensive, and is going to be even more true if the info about the upcoming Yamahaloids being free updates to V6 users is true, and also irrelevant to the current situation as Una comes with her own starter pack that's not priced significantly differently to other starter packs from different engines.

And from my anecdotal evidence, actual Una fans are very happy with the recent announcement, it's usually people indifferent towards her vocal, who are being the loudest in their criticism.

Although there are definitely some people who've taken to treating engines like football teams, a lot of the criticisms towards VOCALOID are reasonable, and coming from people who genuinely want to see the software improve. VOCALOID6 can still sound nice and be fun to use, but we've reached a point where it's undeniable that it's lagging behind on a technical front. While I'm optimistic that Yamaha will keep improving the software, it's risky to buy a product based on an uncertain hypothetical future. Ultimately, it's fair to judge them on what they're asking people to pay for now.

The price of purchasing multiple engines is a big ask for a lot of people, so each company needs to make sure they're at least matching the competition, ideally with a good number of in-demand features that aren't available anywhere else. 'Paying more for less' is referring to what you can do with individual voicebanks, rather than the day-one purchase of the engine itself - although more packaged voices are a great thing I'd like to see more companies jump on (so long as they're optional if they're voice types people aren't interested in). Overall I can see why people feel an attachment to VOCALOID and I'm happy for everyone that's loving it, but I think it's okay to acknowledge the product's shortcomings, even if they're not a big deal for some. I also don't see serious malice in people who express sadness or frustration that they won't be able to use a voice they like in an engine they already own or prefer.

I strongly recommend being liberal with the mute button if stans are being obnoxious, this has cleaned up my feed a great deal. It removes content more thoroughly than a block!

You're throwing at me anecdotal evidence I can't prove or disprove, that's not my experience, I know that's not an experience for many other people and I think you're underplaying the vitriol and malice, your pretense that the majority is good faith is not one I buy.

I'm not saying people should judge it on it's hypothetical future, but that it's doing what it is being asked of, and that people have the space to express their wishes and criticism productively, me condemning how the current criticism is being expressed, which is unproductively and at expense of positive environment.

I am very block and mute-happy, but I've reached the conclusion that the only way for me to stay mentally healthy is to leave said community because that type of attitude is all encompassing and not good for me, that's why I don't agree with your initial statement because it's not possible for me to escape it without actively distancing myself, it's a work in progress.

Taking a step back is a good idea: before we had different engines, those same vitriolic people were getting into slapfights over their favourite Vocaloids, launching hate campaigns against new characters they considered cash grabs. The internet is nothing if not a space for people to die on small hills, and though the sides will change on a dime, people will always be hyperbolic and dramatic. It's not that I doubt fans exist who behave obnoxiously, and those ones are most likely to infiltrate the timeline because of Twitter's algorithm (Control Panel for Twitter my beloved) but I believe we can't dismiss all criticism as haters, or should ignore problems with a product because some take it too far. At the end of the day, disliking V6, or wishing a new release was on a different engine, doesn't make anyone a bad person, and there are normal reasons to feel that way. After all, it's all just music software, haha. People who overreact negatively would be happier remembering that too.

@Legally Pipp Petals I mean with all due respect and I mean this the nicest way possible, a lot of what you say here is also mainly anecdotal evidence so I am not sure how OP's take is any less valid. Like at the end of the day it's hard to accurately gauge the good to bad faith critique ratio because all we have to go on from is what we see and what we see differs from person to person.

@mary34 that's not to dismiss Lili's take but to point out I can't say much of anything about it's factual truth and offered my contrasting experience because that's all I can do, I'm not implying anything of what you're suggesting

and that's what's still being used in the discussion and I see words are starting to be put into my mouth in both replies so it's best to dip out
