Although there are definitely some people who've taken to treating engines like football teams, a lot of the criticisms towards VOCALOID are reasonable, and coming from people who genuinely want to see the software improve. VOCALOID6 can still sound nice and be fun to use, but we've reached a point where it's undeniable that it's lagging behind on a technical front. While I'm optimistic that Yamaha will keep improving the software, it's risky to buy a product based on an uncertain hypothetical future. Ultimately, it's fair to judge them on what they're asking people to pay for now.
The price of purchasing multiple engines is a big ask for a lot of people, so each company needs to make sure they're at least matching the competition, ideally with a good number of in-demand features that aren't available anywhere else. 'Paying more for less' is referring to what you can do with individual voicebanks, rather than the day-one purchase of the engine itself - although more packaged voices are a great thing I'd like to see more companies jump on (so long as they're optional if they're voice types people aren't interested in). Overall I can see why people feel an attachment to VOCALOID and I'm happy for everyone that's loving it, but I think it's okay to acknowledge the product's shortcomings, even if they're not a big deal for some. I also don't see serious malice in people who express sadness or frustration that they won't be able to use a voice they like in an engine they already own or prefer.
I strongly recommend being liberal with the mute button if stans are being obnoxious, this has cleaned up my feed a great deal. It removes content more thoroughly than a block!

This is saying it under the pretense that any of this is in good faith when it's coming from a place of hate, the fact is that the V6 engine is being worked on and features are being developed for it as we speak, the existing features are underplayed by the same crowd ( expression, which is often omitted in such debates, can turn Fuiro into soft vb with falsetto into a strong belting vb ), Yamaha is taking suggestions through inquiries, the right steps are being taken, initiative is being taken and it's currently work in progress and the way the disappointment is being expressed servers no productive purpose but to create hostile toxic environment, it's so hateful and vitriolic to a point that it maliciously spreads misinformation about said products.
The statement about "paying more for less" is untrue too because unlike it's competitors, V6 comes with 8 starter vocals, so more comes in packaged, which can be criticism by it's own merit, but makes the statement "paying more for less" untrue, especially when starting with the same amount of vocals with any other editor would be significantly more expensive, and is going to be even more true if the info about the upcoming Yamahaloids being free updates to V6 users is true, and also irrelevant to the current situation as Una comes with her own starter pack that's not priced significantly differently to other starter packs from different engines.
And from my anecdotal evidence, actual Una fans are very happy with the recent announcement, it's usually people indifferent towards her vocal, who are being the loudest in their criticism.
