  • What if Alter ego has become one of my favorite engines, maybe just a little below Cevio AI and V6.
I love Alys and Leora incredibly, they're too much fun to use tbh and I personally really like their quality. They're so precious and criminally underrated :alys_lili: :leora_lili_smile:
Leora cover coming out soon I hope

AH, and I tried Una V6 ofc, she's SO GOOOD, best V6 I've ever used until now, I have a project in store with her too, but I want to finish the million ones I've already started before diving fully in it lol
I'm feeling pretty creative these days! Aside from a bunch of covers I'm working on, today I started something I've kind of wanted to try out for quite a bit: "updating" Sasayaki to have a cvvc bank! I've run some test with a couple of artificially made VCs and they seem to work, so I think I'll slowly try to finish it up (I don't want to rush because it's my first time working with cvvc and I'm kind of enjoying the process, I'll see what I can do ^^)
I've seen a lot of people doing vocal synth tiers recently so I decided to do one I found on Twitter too, it was fun ngl! (as for the tier itself, I'm aware that Hayato doesn't even have a demo yet but I have really high hopes for him lol) Also Reml having just three demos and already being among my top favorites, what a queen
SOO, I've found out today about the existence of Reml and guess what, I instantly preordered her jdbshjsnsbh. Her design is super cute, I love outfits that mix gothic and cute elements, and her voice is exactly my favorite type of voice (I particularly love the first demo they showcased) , I just couldn't refrain myself from the excitement of getting her (also, she is releasing two days before my birthday it's definitely a sign oops). Watch me getting into Denonbu

Will I have to be really careful about the money I'll spend until the end of the month now? Yes

Am I regretting it? Absolutely not :kaito2_move:
I've just realized that the key signature in Cevio AI ACTUALLY changes how the voice is rendered , I though it was just something nice to remind people what the key of the specific project is jdhgddjdb. Owning the program for one full year and I'm just finding out about it now, I've been living under a rock. :gackpo_lili:
So that's why my auto-pitch was always off key orz
I've been busy with uni lately, but today I've finished my exams so that means I can start being active again!

Talking about good things, Una is here in Italy, hopefully she comes home soon, I'm dying to try her out and to finally get the editor.
    Also, Cevio released a new update and it's AMAZING, I feel like all the voices are benefiting from it:ryuuto_lili:(at least, the three ones I own are lol). So yeah, expect a new cover with Mell soon eheh, God I love Cevio AI ;;;;
After using him for a bit, I think I can definitely say that Gachapoid is my favorite Japanese vocaloid to tune shgdgd. I feel so creative when using him, he's flexible and high quality and I love his tone! I actually like him even more than Nemu, idk why but he has that little something that makes me like to use him way more, he's so fun.
So yeah, him and Sonika have absolutely ranked up to be my favorites as of now :akasakiminato_lili:(the fact they both have green hair is both unintentional and emblematic though lol)

    Gachapoid supremacy!!
Also one thing I recommend trying, he sounds really good in Engrish too!

I'd imagine he's one of those loids that's so weird he's fun haha

(Man, you're making me want to download his trial and see how he sounds in my VSQXs...)

    Cerāgi <º•
@AmazingStrange39 It's exactly like that lol. The really cool thing with him is that you can be totally experimental because he doesn't follow general human voice rules and that lets you have complete choice on everything! Like, you want him to be a very stylized vocalist with specific and over the top effects, pronunciation, singing style ecc? No problem, he's unnatural sounding by default so, unlike other Vocaloids, he can carry all that without sounding off putting. He's just, so much fun for that :ryuuto_lili:.
And as Mika said, he very rarely sounds flat, and never uninteresting. I really recommend you to try him out, I'm sure you'd have a great time. I downloaded his trial out of boredom and bought him two days after thanks to how good he is ahah
    Last-minute Fuiro buyer here :kaito2_move:

Congrats (in the end i guess i'll do it next time anyway it must be over in Japan time and I'm a bit tired)

Editv : neevrmind i may try to speedrun it seems the 50% off price is still on looking at her page, it didn't refresh it seems

Thank you and congrats on getting her too! Strangely enough, her discount is still up on the eng shop rn, could it be they forgot to remove it from there?
Finally, I sat down and recorded the first pitch of my first utau ever ahh. I took advantage of my family going to the beach to have a quiet space to record eheh, also, recording under a blanket really works for deadening the room, I'm shocked!

I have a couple of rerecords to do in the following week but it's fine, I'm strangely satisfied enough with the results.

Talking a bit about him, his name is going to be Kyomi Aito, and he's supposed to be a slightly voice-acted tripitch cvvc, along with a little bit of pitch\formant shift to help achieve the character! In the end, I went for cvvc for better smoothness and smaller reclist, I hope I can share something soon. I can't believe I'm finally doing it after all these years wanting to and never doing anything :mikoto_lili:

You can put pillows or cushions around microphone and cover it with blanket or curtains it can use as a decent sound absorption, blanket don't reflected the sound that well, it can reduce energy of the sound wave and pillows can use as final layer of sound absorption.

If you're using a microphone, a good solution for a pop filter without having one is covering it with a tissue. That's what I used to do before I got an actual pop filter.

Thanks for the suggestions, I'll make sure to try those out!
So, after all the discourse surrounding V6, I need to bring some positive news: I downloaded the trial and decided to start getting myself acquainted before the arrival of Una and GOD I LOVE using it. I'm hooked to the workflow for AI voices, they are so nice to operate and the emotion parameter is a true godsend. The styles are also really cool, wasn't expecting much from them but they are actually super useful (at least, for me lol).

I'm just a bit sad that you can't get the default vocals separately, as Akito sounds super nice, but hey, I'll wait and see for the upcoming free vbs for a new male vocal. I'm working on a project with him though! Overall, I'm really happy I finally took the plunge to upgrade. :lapis_lili:

honestly i've been loving the vbs on the engine, I think V6's AI is capable of such notably diverse vb output that makes me excited for new announcements, something more traditionally AI and realistic like Haruka or Akito, character-focused that preserves the original sound like Gumi and Una, something out there and experimental like Po-Uta ( he wasn't the 1st of this kind but definitely the best execution of it imo ) and I'm not sure how to describe Fuiro but her direction feels distinct from the others too, like that of KAMITSUBAKI STUDIO vb.
Not me opening twitter after, like, ages just to see people complaining about Una being on V6 for no reason... like, she can be up to taste ofc, I'm not saying you HAVE to like her, but sometimes it just feels like people like hating on everything Yamaha does just because it's Yamaha. I don't get why so many people are saying she sounds bad, those demos are quite surely barely tuned if at all and even then they sound alright to me  (sorry, I needed to let it out)

Most peoples always love to complaining thing because it's easy that way to get attention and to excuse of poor performance.
If you ever try to ask complainer about solution you will most likely got nothing from them or get hate in return.

Best to ignore that they doesn't exist or I would say this is the best way to cure this kind of problem.

If they don't like it, don't buy it, and yamaha didn't force them to buy it either. Isn't that simple?

This is my theory. I think people are very disappointed with v6 ai as a engine for many reasons. People are also still burned from how Yamaha handled v5 and now with v6 people are still wary with how it sounds very similar to non ai synthesis yet is missing a lot of features like parameters and features that are now standard like drawing pitch on notes. You can see the disappointment with past v6 releases this isn't new. I think people were hoping for a more natural sounding version of Una like with we got with other ai updates like zunko, stardust, ia, luo, ling, and Teto.

You are all so right. The worst thing about all of it is that this resentment really serves no one, it just contributes to the creation of a toxic and negative environment which kills all the excitement for new releases. I love Una AI and surely the opinion of a bunch of people won't change that, but, as much as I wouldn't like to, all the vitriol towards V6 kinda made me discouraged. Also, V6 is definitely a good engine, the fact that it behaves differently from other synths should be seen as an enrichment to the pool of choices available and not as a negative thing.
So emh, I might have impulsively bought Una's sugar physical starter pack as a month and a half early birthday gift  . I'm so happy and looking forward to have her and V6!! Her box is super pretty too help
Am I the only one who finds tuning harmonies really tiring?
I have a Sonika cover which is almost ready, but for the harmonies and like every time I sit to work on them my motivation instantly goes away orz. I really need to overcome that because I desperately want to share Sonika love lol
    ___

an angel descents from the heavens and gently whispers into my ear "you don't need to tune the harmonies" a single tear runs down my cheek with content smile on my face, I've been preaching said truth since then.

alternatively....just use AI tuning 😳 I don't think.....there's any shame in that cuz harmonies don't need your creative input nearly as much rtyuio
    AmazingStrange39
    AmazingStrange39
I often just leave the harmonies untuned or make them from a copied track, thus rendering the tuning exactly the same (unless I'm trying to pull a Mitchie M and go for ultra-real tuning just to see if I can do it)
    Cerāgi <º•
    Cerāgi <º•
@Legally Pipp Petals ooh you're right, I could try AI tuning and call it a day(I just need to tune them a bit as some little parts of them are actually heard, but doing everything by hand is just not worth it orz... but AI will serve me right, thank you for the suggestion!). next time I will definitely follow your example guys and leave them untuned though :kyo_lili:
I bought Sonika on Sonicwire as she was only 45€ and I LOVE HER SO MUCH with all her flaws... she's so fun to tune and I think I've found "my Engloid"! :sonika_lili:

No matter how objectively poorly a vsynth is recorded/programmed/etc. it's always hard for me to say they're bad cuz vsynths are so subjective and all have artistic merit
    AmazingStrange39
    AmazingStrange39
Yeah, and I'm pretty sure every synth has someone who's super good at it.

Heck, there's probably someone out there that can make the UTAU Tree sing beautifully XD
    Cerāgi <º•
    Cerāgi <º•
@Legally Pipp Petals exactly, that's always how it is for me. Like, ok, Sonika's raw quality is pretty terrible, but put her voice in a song and she will easily shine thanks to her voice type and characteristics. As vsynths are meant to be an expressive tool, I think the expressive qualities of the voice can really be a deal breaker regardless of programming/recording quality sometimes and every single vb has a place for it to fit in!

It happened, I got the flu just two days after Easter..
Given that I can't do anything rn but laying in bed I wanted to work a bit more on tuning today, but I just couldn't 'cause my headache was too strong rip. Hopefully tomorrow I'll be able to do something orz

Thank you so much!:giggle: I'm sorry it was that strong for you... I hadn't had it for such a long a time too and I honestly had forgotten how bad it could be uff... I'm treating myself by drinking chamomile and watching tv series when headhache and fever allow me though, so at least there's that :kaito_lili:
Guess who gave in and preordered Kanato Mell because she's super lovely and I stan her so hard? I'm SO looking forward to the 20th now!

Also, I recently was finally able to find what I think is my absolute favorite Utau, Macne Sasayaki, and she's even more gorgeous than I expected, I really love her tone a lot. I also gave remaking her oto a try and I had surprisingly fun doing it! Like, it's a pretty monotonous activity, but I find it quite relaxing tbh (I still have a lot to learn though). I started working on a cover with her yesterday and I hope I can share it soon. :giggle:

Lastly, I bought a new xlr microphone last week, so as soon as I find a little more free time I think I'll try and record my first cv bank, which is something I've been wanting to do for quite a bit tbh! I'm in the utau loop too from now on lol :yohioloid_lili:
