  • EmVoice folks: "What is market research?"

What's their problem with typical Vocaloid/anime fans? The singing synth market is still dominated by Vocaloid, and most people get into singing synths through Vocaloid, so it shouldn't be a surprise that Vocaloid users are the most likely to pick up EmVoice. Aiming for non-Vocaloid/anime fans constantly won't help EmVoice in the long run, because professional and non-anime fan amateur musicians aren't likely to buy a singing synth for all sorts of reasons. (The usual "technology is taking over" reaction, they can already sing or they already know a singer and they don't need a synth, etc.)

Also most non-anime fans are STILL most likely to buy vocaloid, as the one with the professional support and the widest variety of voices (excluding UTAU, which is old and hard to use at this point....and lacks the professional support).
It just dawned on me that Oliver was released so long ago, that his voicer is now old enough to buy beer in the US (he was 13 in 2011).
The Shian/Warma duet made me kinda want both Stardust & Zero voicebanks for SynthV. Although a Stardust bank for Eng & Man would be nice if it can be done, a close emulation of Chalili's voice would be epic too.

To the absolute surprise to no one... Anime Matsuri is a complete hot mess again. Brown M&Ms as far as the eye can see.

I think in order to have hard proof of what happened, someone from either side would have to provide evidence of emails or something. (Doubt they'd do that, though.) Personally, I think it sounds like both sides dropped the ball communication-wise and neither fixed it before it was too late. What a mess.
There's going to be a ton of Vocaloid 4 banks turning 5 late next year. I wonder how Yamaha will attempt to keep all of those voices from jumping ship from their platform

    >PFX is gone and a mess
    >Voctro is gone to Voiceful and Spanish vocaloid is dead AF anyway
    >Internet seems to have next to no interest in vocal synths atm
    >Yohioloid is a maybe
    >Native Eng banks are unlikely considering ZG hasn't done updates before
    >Yohsida-kun was never a vocaloid, but Sora, Akari, Yukari, Nana, and IA all have appeared on other engines.

Quite frankly, I don't think turning 5 changes much for the companies; while they technically are free to make changes at that point, the Vocaloid life cycle seems much, much longer (considering VBs that are almost 10 are still fully supported and widely used).

To be honest, most other synths are still lacking the marketability vocaloid has; the only exceptions are CeVIO (which to be frank sounds pretty bad atm and is even deader than vocaloid) and SynthV (which is basically an unknown outside of China at this point, making it very risky.)
Yes i know we all know about it but people who aren't hardcore fans likely aren't aware it even exists.
It also doesn't help that, in general, people will be more likely to buy a vb for a synth they already own than a new one, and if you try to go up against Miku and Tianyi you WILL lose.

@DefiantKitsune Wait, CeVIO's gone dead? I know there haven't been any new VB releases for CeVIO since IA English dropped, but weren't they planning to update CeVIO's engine so it would sound much nicer and closer to Vocaloid's quality? SynthV is still new, so I can understand that engine being risky, especially for a non-Chinese VB.

The update plans are in line....supposedly, but CeVIO really hasn't been able to attract any devs other than 1st Place, and at least vocaloid has plans for new voicebanks: excluding IA English, no one's even touching CeVIO..

Frankly i wonder if most users' PCs will even be able to support the deep learning update, but that's another matter.
I wonder what it would it take for vtubers to be as popular in the west as they are in Japan & China.

for people overseas to stop being so uncomfortable with the idea of humans being replaced in any way
I know VTubers still count as people since there's people behind them, but I'm pretty sure a lot of people would still be bothered by VTubers for that reason
Man, the person/people who made the english subtitles for HimeHina videos must go through a lot. Alot of their videos go heavy on the wordplay and puns
Mitchie M not being subtle on youtube: "I expressed Miku and Luka's intimate friendship in this song."
