I honestly can't see them doing that. Even if the sentiment is there, I doubt they'd give up that much money. I think, if anything, they'd make their voicebanks a little less (and, honestly, I'm all about Miku not being $200 anymore). Even then, though, it probably would hurt competitors. I'm a little conflicted over this now.

@peaches2217 Not going to deny I feel a little conflicted by the possibility. There are definitely quite a few cons and pros to an idea like that. A bunch of young starting producers who couldn't convince their folks to dish out hundreds to buy the vsinger and cfm 'loids can get them much easier but on the other hand it could possibly create a near monopoly on the singing synth market. AHS, Gynoid, Zero-G and Quadimension would have a difficult time in such an environment.

What if they offered something like a "starter pack", where you could get a single voicebank (for example, Miku's Original or Meiko's Power) and Piapro Studio for free? That would give upstarts something to go off of, but they wouldn't become superpowered by giving all of their voices away for free. Or they could offer discounts for first-time buyers or something like that. I dunno, we won't know what they're gonna do until they announce it, and the best we can do until then is speculate.

I can see Crypton selling their VBs for cheaper individually on Piapro Studio compared to Vocaloid, rather than offering them for free. Recording VBs is costly and Crypton is still a business at the end of the day.

But I can also see them continue the starter pack trend we already see with Vocaloid (say, by bundling Miku on her own with Piapro Studio).
