  • I'm honestly really happy with how this is coming along, especially since I've only spent about ten or fifteen minutes on it! Surely there will be a way to brighten his voice once I transfer the finished track into FL.
There was an essay I submitted way late due to being absent for much of the writing period (it was right after my surgery), so I submitted it last Thursday, anticipating like half-off my final grade for being so late.

My professor went ahead and gave me 100%, because she said that my "details are effective and (my) voice is a delight to read". She even said I'm a talented writer.

    Welp. I'll take it.
I'm honestly super proud of this! It's got a lot of work left to make it sound good, but I'm having a lot of fun with it. SynthV's parameters are so much more fun to play around with.

It does sound more like the original! :kaito2_move: But it still has your own spin to it! I like it! And yeah about those parameters! I told you  I can hear you had fun with the tension parameter, I like it too. Vocaloid has exciter but I don't like it nearly as much.

God, the tension parameter is amazing. Since there's so much stressing and destressing of words in the original, it makes mimicking that effect so much simpler. Since I'm not able to add the guttural and growl effects of the original, though, I've had to adopt something else, and I really hope it works for the context of the song.

    Sounds really good!
I finally found a good song to cover with Yuudai! His gentle voice is perfect for the Grace Edition of Cantarella. So far it doesn't sound half-bad! He's gonna need some TLC to really shine, though.
My next final is tomorrow morning, and the professor posted our pre-final assignment earlier today. Half an hour ago, I settled in with some comfy clothes and a bunch of Dr. Pepper, anticipating another long night of hard work... aaaaaaaand I just finished it. Considering I stayed up until 4 Sunday night/Monday morning finishing an assignment for Development of English, I'll take it.

And hey, it gives me more time to work on Shoot Him Down!
I'm finally getting happy with this cover, finding a good balance between mimicking the original and adjusting it to better fit Eleanor's voice. But now I've gotta add in the harmonies... and the harmonies are so hard to fully hear... wish me luck. TT.TT

I think I've got the harmonies for the chorus figured out. They're layered and separated, so once I've got the tuning of ALL the harmonies complete, I'll replicate the track a few times so I can work it into something similar, then add the necessary effects in FL. But it'll be a while before I reach that point.

    good luck!!!!! :eleanorforte_lili:
I gave my best friend her Christmas presents today and treated her to lunch as well! She ended up crying. I felt bad. :kyo_lili: She insisted she really liked her gifts, though, and I hope she really did! She had given me a few ideas for what she wanted so I just got her... well, everything.

    Now back into Finals mindset!

Definitely happy. She couldn't stop hugging me. She's been sending me pictures of the books in her bookshelf, the necklace on her neck, and the pipe full of weed, so I'd say she liked them! And thank you so much!
Eleanor sounds great with this song, but the trouble is making it sound akin to the original. There's just no way. It's sad and pathetic. At least I'm having fun with it... I'm learning how to really take advantage of SynthV's parameters, if nothing else! Even if the end result sounds even worse than me singing, it's good practice.

It's a cover after all, you don't have to perfectly recreate it, put your own spin to it :kaito2_move: Also some voicebank have such unique sound to them you can't quite make the cover completely akin to the original with them....at least I believe so.

You're right. Still, it's disappointing that I can't make this sound as passionate as the original. It sounds so bland, like... like a machine's singing it. I just hate that I'm mangling it so much because I love the original.

I think that's just Eleanor being Eleanor  sometimes she sounds like she's speaking more than singing, it can work for some songs and for some not. I think this is pretty hard song to try to cover with Eleanor overall.

Also you'll get the hang ofthe SynthV parameters, I honestly think SynthV vociebanks have nicer reaction to parameters than vocaloids do.
Tomorrow's a day of rest before launching headlong into the rest of my finals! I'm meeting up with a friend for lunch and to give her her Christmas present, since I'l be incapacitated at Christmas and can't give it to her then, and then my sister's Christmas play is tomorrow night, and I love her to pieces but she only has three lines and have you seen Christian school Christmas plays? They're painful to sit through. (Not to mention the Alpha Bitch who keeps insisting my sister is too fat to be a good dancer - my sister is eight, by the way - is playing Mary, because her mother payed the school to give her that coveted role, and I don't think they would appreciate a Protestant shouting "You suck!" at the Mother of God during a Catholic children's musical, but dammit I don't like that girl and I want her to know it! Leave my sister alone you bitch!)

...I'm beginning to think tomorrow's gonna be more hectic than the two days after it, come to think of it.
I'm finally trying to use Eleanor! Is there a way to add a growl-type effect in SynthV that's not so chaotic-sounding? The default glottal effect, no matter how much I tinker with it, just... isn't working, but it would add a much-needed punch to this track.

The same song? That's amazing! I think Ruby would sound great singing it.

Yes! But it was in my "wow I know next to nothing about music and just found out about UTAU" days, you probably can imagine how that turned out

Well one day I'll hopefully do it a justice with Ruby. Btw would you like to finish this with Eleanor or is tis just a test?

You can absolutely do it justice! I actually don't think I've heard any of your covers, but with how seriously you take it I'm sure it'll sound spectacular.

Also, I'm absolutely finishing this. I've been wanting to do this song for a while now, and I was gonna do it with Daina, then I was like "Wow I actually don't care for her at all" and then tried it with Eleanor after giving Daina to a friend. And her voice is just. SO good for it.

(Also, I love how you can tell that his sprite is taller than mine. It supports my headcanon that Rick's tall on top of all his dorkiness and that makes me very happy.)
Everything's back on my computer, right down to my stickers! My Cryptonloid stickers are a little worse for the wear, this being the forth time I've transferred them... I got them from Hot Topic back in 2016. I'm gonna try to track down a new set, though I've got no idea where they might still be.

I'd like to get some more stickers as well. This laptop is bigger than my old one, so it's a little bare-bones-lookin'.

Y'aaaaaaaaaaaall look at this! I commissioned @GreenFantasy64 and this was the end result
For how much stress they placed on making sure I had everything saved due to the likelihood I'd lose everything on my computer, nothing actually happened. Not even the internet history has been touched. So now I just have to reinstall and activate everything that I uninstalled/deactivated out of precaution, then I need to make sure the two projects I started on in Vocaloid make it over successfully, and everything will be back to normal!

...they gave me a new keyboard, though, so the keys haven't worn under excessive typing, meaning I feel everything. That'll take some getting used to. I guess that's the best kind of problem to have, though.
It's done. I'm done. I'm not writing another single essay until January. I refuse. Don't major in writing. It's just an overall bad idea.

(Nah, if you're passionate about it, you should totally major in writing. Just... know how many essays you're gonna have to write.)

Now let's see how much damage they did to my laptop! I haven't gotten a chance to do more than a cursory inspection - they had me make sure I could turn it on and log in while I was in Best Buy, but I was running late to class so that was all I did, and I've been too focused on getting my papers done to test it out. They replaced the entire lower half of the machine itself, but all my icons and my background remained untouched. Here's hoping!
I overestimated my ability to crank out a creative essay. I've got four pages left and it's due in five hours, at which point it won't even be accepted as late. I'm on the verge of defenestrating myself.

That said, my laptop came in earlier than expected!! It was a quick fix after all, just one that required parts straight from the manufacturer. Once I get this sodding thing finished I'll be able to pick it up and see what kind of shape it's in!

Just try your best to meet the page deadline. Even if your writing is kind of sloppy, I think being massively short of the page amount would be really bad. If you're like one or two pages off, it seems you could still get a decent grade. Turn in whatever you end up making. Then you can move on with your life after this essay. Sounds tough! Can relate (my class had to write a 10 page John F Kennedy tinfoil hat essay arguing who was behind his murder, I picked the mafia, there were only like two books on this theory at the state library, had to just basically rewrite the same dumb argument in really flowery words and pray).

I complete an eight-page paper with a four-page annotated bibliography and, exhausted yet triumphant, walk through the door of my home... just in time to watch Binx (AKA Baby Bastard) pull the Christmas tree down. Like a scene in a melodramatic Hallmark movie, our Santa topper dislodged during the fall and landed right at my feet.

At least my 8AM is out. I’m sleeping in.
