  • I'm thinking & hoping that we hear about those new SynthV banks after golden week is over.

Don't know if it'll be right after golden week but I think in the next two weeks we'll definitely hear something

Apparently they're calling Golden Week "Stay Home Week". I completely forgot about GW this year. I was trying to remember what other companies are doing right now, Crypton's supposed to come back on the 20th (maybe) but Crimson Technology is supposed to (maybe) come back on the 6th. I honestly hope that Synth V just releases a digital version earlier than the physical one and not both at the same time, or we could be waiting a long time...

The digital version of R1 was released way before the boxed version (which I think only came out around Chiyu's release in the end) so it wouldn't surprise me if that was the case now, or if they did a preorder system.

It depends if/when countries adopt the WHO advice of testing everyone and quarantining who is infected. High testing = a much more informed picture of how the virus is spreading in different countries. Germany and South Korea have taken this approach, and they are seeing less deaths than the UK and the US.

To be honest, a lot of people haven't been buying full albums for years, so I doubt corona had anything to do with that in the short-term. From a layman's perspective, what's the point of buying a full album which only includes a few songs that you like? Digital download services and streaming have brough back a music market driven by singles, which hasn't really been the case since The Beatles proved that an album could have an overarching theme, rather than just have random songs slapped onto an LP.

I was surprised to read that streaming figures were down though. You'd think people would be streaming or listening to the radio more while indoors.
Ouch, I thought EDM livestreams would be doing great right now

As someone who hasn't been happy with the way (mainstream) electronic music has gone over the years, I kinda hope that one benefit of the corona outbreak is the death of the overpriced festival. (Glastonbury, thought not exclusively an electronic festival, has been cancelled for this year as well, and has long been perceived in the UK as a place where rich uni students congregate and pretend to be hippies for a weekend).
With so much stuff being closed down for at least a few weeks & a bunch of people being asked to stay home, it's actually a great time for a bunch of singing synth voices to be released. Alot of producers are going to have an absurd amount of free time on their hands.
So Magical Mirai has been pushed back because of the Olympics, the Olympics might be pushed back a few months because of the coronavirus so Magical Mirai might get pushed back even further and now Coachella might get pushed into October if it doesn't get cancelled outright this year. It's gonna mess up the entire Miku concert schedule this year.

*Half of Magical Mirai was pushed back, the Osaka leg is still in August. Tokyo Mirai is in latter half of December, there's no way the Olympics would be held around that time. If the Olympics were delayed past Sep/Oct they'd be rescheduled for the next summer.
