I adore ann and al but I've heard people have had trouble with powerfx not responding to them/not giving them serial codes recently and I didnt want to go through that whole song and dance...dex and daina arent that bad but using them just makes me want to tear my hair out

If they don’t send out the codes in a timely fashion, just message them again asking if the request went through. I did that, and they sent me an apology with the imports. It’s really not a bad process, and they’re worth it!

PFX Vocaloid purchases (as of Dec 2019, last time I bought one from them) now come with the serial code in your purchase confirmation email. You'll probably have to bug them for the V4 import though, if you want that.

There’s a copy of Una for $94 without shipping on amazon so I’d say the deal isn’t great:

It's not even a funny meme either... Don't get me wrong, I don't have any time for Rowling and her transphobic ass, but the meme involving Miku creating Harry Potter (I'm assuming that the meme got revived after Rowling posted yet another transphobic statement on Twitter) strikes me as immature, mainly because most of the meme entries are coming from teens who spend too much time on Twitter in the first place. If you have a problem with her, either debate her as to why she's transphobic, or just ignore her. Don't drag a Japanese Vocaloid into it, especially when Japan is mostly detached from Western LGBT issues.

    Not again :(
people trashing milgram for sounding too much like "vocaloid music" when one of the most popular vocaloid producers ever wrote all the songs....please get me out of here
vocaloid fans who hate anime and anime fans who hate vocaloid are so funny. just realize theres an overlap and lighten up a little

all good!! and yeah i'd agree vocaloid tends to be more in the anime field mostly because 1) the majority of vocaloids are japanese language centered and 2) most of their official illustrations are drawn in an anime style. this makes me think of that one running joke where someone asks what anime a vocaloid is from and the vocaloid fan gets angry. it's funny because... i mean, you see it happen a lot in the community :clara_ani_lili:

edit: i also thing a lot of westerners are afraid of being painted as weebs so they try to disassociate vocaloid from anime...? like i said, i don't watch anime but even i consider myself on the weeaboo spectrum 🙈

I watch anime fairly often, but that's not a factor in me liking vocaloid anymore. I view them as two separate communities, two separate things that i like, rather than grouping them together as both being "weeb shit". And I think that's why some vocaloid fans get touchy about it being compared to anime, because they view it as a separate entity. (and don't wanna be considered immature. Let's face it: anime fan culture kinda has a bad rep.) That being said, I agree with you on there being overlap. Vocaloid culture would never have existed if it weren't for anime nerds on NicoNico back in 2007.

I actually have a weird personal opinion on this. Songs with an anime vibe/illustration are fine, but there's way too many of them. If there were more varied aesthetics associated with Vocaloid/vocal synth music, then Vocaloid music would attract more legit musicians, rather than hobbyists that only want to become a P because "miku kawaii" or whatever. Then those P's would make more interesting music, it would get popular, and the Vocaloid community would have new blood. I feel like the Vocaloid community is dying down because too many people have the exact same influences: p's from the "golden era" (ex. wowaka, neru rerulili) and anime ops/eds. It gets boring after a while.
I found a new favorite vocaloid song and I never would have known about it if an utau person I follow hadn't covered it ❗🙈
