Do you mean "writing" as in writing lyrics, or bringing the composition itself into fruition? I don't know much about actual lyric composition, as I'm exclusively a cover artist - I don't have a lyrical bone in my oversized body, y'know. As far as the technical side of composition goes, I'd go with Para's suggestions, as they know what they're talking about. If you're needing a DAW and some instruments and such, then I say go with Studio One! The latest version came with Miku V4X. While I never played around with the instruments, I've heard lots of good things about them, so it's worth trying!
FL IS pretty hard to get the hang of, but simple once you're used to. I prefer it to Studio One myself, though Studio One is still an excellent (and free!) option for Crytponloid owners, and I think, personally, that it's easier to get the hang of. DAWs in general take some practice to get used to, just as any vocalsynth program might; with patience and diligence, you'll get it!
When I've finished with composition and arrangement, I export the music as a .mid file and import into Reaper and go from there. In the past I used FL Studio, but I switched this year due to numerous niggles I was experiencing with FL Studio.
