  • working on otos is hard...I've never done this before....should I get someone to check my work when I'm done? (I mean, I guess it'd be evident, but idk)

I believe Utaforums has some users who do oto checks. If you want someone to check it now, I recommend showing your work so far to someone who is familiar with oto'ing.
There are also some tutorials out there to help with oto'ing.
Hopefully next week I'll finish recording for my UTAU, Hiiko - then I can get to commissioning an oto and finishing her up.
I kinda wanna ask if anyone would be willing to try her out when she's done, but I don't want to get ahead of myself yet...

Something I did while learning was listening to real singers! it helped with my pitch-bend/vibrato placement and understanding, and when I finally knew what I was doing I started to stylise. Of course you still have to adjust your tuning a little when you use different voicebanks, but that's a given.

tuning sounds pretty decent so far, and you can only improve from here on out. ^^

this isn't bad for a beginner!! and i totally agree with msmsmsm, tuning your cover to mimic real singers is the one thing i did a ton when i was new (and honestly still do even now). go search on NND for utaite covers of the song you're tuning and take ideas from the way they sang it :chika_ani_lili:
been drawing some more oc stuff for once...if I were to post it, should I post it in a new thread in the creative works section or should I just add to my existing art thread?
The main vocals for Missile Killer are done! A teeny bit clumsy considering I'm completely new to something like this, but they're done. However, harmony vocals are another story...tried redownloading the USTs (the harmony files refuse to make any sound regardless of vb or resampler) and they still won't work. Not sure how to fix it, starting to feel I might just have to release the cover with no harmonies at this rate.
Missile Killer cover is making progress :'D a couple of setbacks though in the form of having to redo the beginning of it because it becomes really clear that I got the hang of tuning right in the middle of the song ;v; also having trouble with the harmony USTs but hopefully if I can get them working it won't take long to finish them
considering making a thread to talk about my hcs and such, I was gonna post it in an old thread I found but I'm afraid it might take up too much space...

You could always start up a journal! I’ll post my headcanons there from time to time.

I also recommend a journal! I've actually been meaning to post some of my headcanons but have neglected to do it, so my journal has become more of progress report, lol.
