    Today's the first day of Andrew's class and honestly I'm a little intimidated because it's largely a peer review driven thing and from what I've heard of their submissions my peer group is really far ahead of me sjdhdhd Between that and how bad my health issues are kicking my butt I might cave and withdraw but I still have a few days to decide so I guess I'll give it a shot

    Thanks! Unfortunately the teacher isn't super involved in the class outside of making the videos and I can't contact them directly (it reminds me a bit of Masterclass except at least there's a slight chance he might pop in and comment on posts). I have a feeling even if I could he'd probably say what he said in one of the videos about how it's about pushing yourself lol. It's not like it's graded or anything, I guess mostly it just stirs up the feelings of shame of how long I've let myself go without putting serious effort into learning production skills X'P

    I think that even if it is difficult to not compare yourself to the other students, you DID go out of your comfort zone to start getting help/improving. It wouldn't be wrong to quit if you decide to in the end, but I think that even if the other students are currently higher level than you they had a point where they were at the same level as you (not that you know that for sure, it might just seem like they are, either way they are there to learn just like you). Maybe they are even thinking similar thoughts.

    I’m tempted to sign up for Andrew Huang’s music production class but I have the same problem as V5 in that it’s a lot of money for something I’m not 100% sure I’ll stick with (though at least I’d have a couple days to get a refund on the class lol)

    Yeah, I would appreciate if they gave us a trial because I’ve held off for so long knowing that I generally dislike tuning in Vocaloid and don’t want to put that much money into software I may not even like… I don’t feel comfortable putting however much it costs into software that I’ve never even touched myself—too big of a gamble… :kaito_lili:

    I seriously don’t understand why they haven’t released even a basic limited feature trial of V5, like V2 trials. Even with the new discounts and upgrade pricing it’s still a lot if money to plow into software you may or may not like with no easy way to resell.

I think another thing for me is that I only really bought Vocaloid at first because I got to use a V3 trial and it makes me sad that it's not an option for newcomers anymore.

    Hmm... which editor are you using? Portamento can be a tricky bitch to work with. A lot of it is just trial and error, then remembering what actions gave you the results you wanted.

    I've been messing with comparing Chiyu to AiKO (except making them sing Japanese). Dang Kanru got me addicted on the first day of trying it out... For the pinyin chart, maybe you could just sort it by having a certain number of pairings per track and have pauses between different sections (like ba/pa/ma/za/sha, etc, then have a gap and start me/de/ze, etc, then a gap blah blah blah).

    Found someone who's selling VY1v3 starter pack with a Miku V3 bundle on Mercari for what they say is about half the list price. I cannot even (only downside is it looks like they're going to take it down if it doesn't sell by the 31st)

    I’ve been tempted, but truthfully, I only want Miku V3 English. Knowing how many people want VY1, I’d probably just give her to someone here, as well as Miku V3’s Japanese banks and the V3 Editor, but then that’s $160 I’ve spent on a single mid-quality English bank... grumble grumble...
