With Flower I am really wondering whether theyre targeting the right audience? I can imagine Yukari working out as people go to her for smooth realistic vocals already and this is just making the job for those people easier but Flower? People get waaaaaaay more experimental with her and with possibly limited ways to edit the voice...

I haven’t been keeping up with CeVio, but honestly, from what I have heard about these goings on is that it seems to be turning into a trainwreck. Honestly, though, I standby the opinion that Gynoid vocals would be better on a different engine. I don’t know if CeVIO AI has the same type of engine noise as regular CeVIO but I just can’t see them sounding good on the engine if that is the case. I think if they’re going to switch synths, SynthV would be the best option for two reasons: it has a very good engine with minimal noise (I can see the Meikas benefiting greatly from lack of engine noise), and also the fact that the devs seem to know what they’re doing for SynthV.
Tbh, I don’t understand the appeal of AI synths if you’re limited to one style—isn’t half the fun of working with vocal synths making them sound the way you like? (Honestly, I think a realistic vocal like Yukari would sound good on SynthV as well since it seems the engine is good for realism.)

@Kazumimi yeah thats definitely my concern- flower has been used in such a wide range, even with her technically limited tone, the vocaloid engine gives us so many ways to alter the voice that i couldnt imagine losing that freedom. i cant say i was exactly happy to hear Gynoid was moving to Cevio AI, because from what i knew of Cevio i was like really "eh" on the sound of that and due to no examples of what Cevio AI could sound like, put me even more unsure about whether or not this could work. im most afraid flower could lose that power tone in this new version with Cevio AI, because AI has shown to be limited in terms of customization.
i was really hoping they were gonna hop on Synth V at the very least. or at least would have ridden through Vocaloid 5 for just a bit even lol. at this point i wouldve been more thankful if theyd stayed on vocaloid and not moved to whatever Cevio is trying to do...

i feel like i havent heard enough complaints about AI Synths either tbh. the fact of things like Vocaloid or Synth V is theyre genuinely instruments in their own ways, because you can customize it into your liking, because its a tool! but this AI stuff gives no freedom. you just render the voice and you get what you get. sure its cool to hear sometimes, but in the end im like "how is this useful to me if i cant make it sound how i want?" and a slightly unimportant note to that is i know me and many other users like to make non-english voices speak english. i have a feeling that will be completely impossible with AI synths depending on how they render things which honestly is another bummer... not in that they need to be "compatible" but i think it also speaks to how limiting these things actually are.

Gynoid hasnt said they're done with Vocaloid, just that they're expanding to other engines too.

Also I and @Stardust had little conversation about this the other day. There are producers to whom tuning/editing the vocal too much really is just a second thought and are always looking for shortcuts however due to just how impersonal and limiting it can be we both wonder whether AI synths will end up being just a fad, after all the vocal synth market is very small and AI synths are only targeting a specific small portion of it. Personally, I don't find using AI synths appealing myself either.

Also I think engrish should be fine, here's sample of Kiritan singing in engrish:

@patuk thats true! i meant to clarify that as well as the main concern initially (before seeing all this new stuff with Kaf) was a worry that they focus only on AI stuff, and in that regard i wouldve been more dissapointed. and i also now wonder if the rocky road of Cevio AI will change anything for their future projects but its hard to say how theyre interpreting it as a company. maybe things are going very well behind the scenes and we have no idea lol.

honestly while the english there isnt bad by any means, theres still the angle of the amount of customization vocaloid has in comparison that will always make a big difference in that regard- for that kinda specific editting ya know. (and also with the way AI works i do think the english results i have heard are just much more choppy but idk how that may improve) and ill be real, i do think Vocaloid 5 had great ideas and intentions with the tools it added for tuning, to make tuning easier and faster. cuz i totally get it, and i can very much see the appeal in AI synths for the folks who dont want to tune stuff at all. i would love to see some kinda balance between the two kinds of interfaces, as AI tech has given some interesting and pretty high quality results. though i cant say i know how easy it would be to add control like that in the first place.
