  • gosh i really love Ado's tuning for flower. when i first heard their stuff quite a while back it definitely gave me inspiration and i think its a great example of how V5 can change flower's sound in some interesting ways. Delta too tbh, they also use V5 very well with flower
im so glad flower has grown into the attention she has, so many more japanese songs being made with her than ever now. i remember when i first got into here i literally had a list of all existing songs of her for a while- but its blown up so much i had to stop lol.

i am trying to post songs in the music release forum for exposure, though i dont always have the energy. i tend to only keep track of songs through youtube posts bc i just dont have the energy to dig through niconico like i use to

i really like her voice too, it's crazy just how many originals these days use vflower and i am NOT complaining. vflower feels like she's quickly became a mainstream super popular vocaloid now!!! i think she works really well in alt rock songs especially how 蜂屋ななし uses her in their songs.

I think her popularity came from the memes :flower_smile_lili:
why does it feel like so many v flower songs just come out at the same time. is there just a collective time that is good to post music that im unaware of lol

Some people do pick the most ideal time for the algorithm to boost their song. IDK when that would be though...

@TheStarPalace yeah, tho this week has been oddly full of flower stuff, but i guess if you study the algorithms theres probably even a specific time of the year people are most likely to watch... definitely dont know when that would be, buts its always weird when a number of new releases come at the same time

    The flower just bloomed :qingxian_ani_lili:
am i the only one who thinks the V5 growl effects are actually pretty good? i hope not! try them if you havent touched them! not every one is, some of them sound real weird. bit theres like 2-3 that sound fuckin great to me, far better than the growl parameter. i have only used them on Flower so i guess i cant speak on whether or not they work well with other voices. but ive used the v5 growl a lot in my power tuning with flower and theyre real nice imo.
hey ummm i remember someone mentioning how to "reset" trials of vocaloids... something about deleting a certain file? there was one trial i messed up with and cant use so i was wondering what that method was!

@BlueJ huh, if that is the way i guess i have...tried that, but maybe i did something slightly wrong. but ill wait to see if anyone pops up with some other method.

tbh when I was just playing around with Vocaloid and wasn't going to make any revenue off of it, or even publish the songs, I just pirated the software to play with it for as long as I wanted. If I decide to actually make money off of it, I'll pay for the software.

@BlueJ oh i did/do that too. still do. but i barely open up pocaloid so i prefer to have it on the legal engine for easier access if i can tbh
got off my ass and have a new v flower cover goin up tomorrow... also saw there is a cover of this song w flower already but mine turned out so different lol so i dont feel weird about it
im listening to those new miku demos and it does feel like an improvement from before but something still sounds...off. i mean putting aside the fuzzy engine noise (which did improve) theres something that sounds weird to me like.... is it the note transitions? consonants? i cant put my finger on it or find the right word. i know its not tuned (?) but that doesnt mean untuned demos are immune to pointing out possible flaws... if anything it gives us an idea of what flaws there are.

i think tonally its sounding a bit better, like in terms of the general miku sound. but its lacking some quality checks in some areas tbh.

I feel like I noticed the same thing. It's sorta like she's...quacking? idk

like that weird jump between notes, especially if there's a lot of different sounds in succession of each other. It's def an improvement which makes me more positive about future improvements tho

Honestly, I think it's just the songs they chose. They... they really don't make great demo songs. They're good songs on their own, but not ideal for showing off a new piece of software.
    morrysillusion
    morrysillusion
@peaches2217 its true, those songs are a bit intense mostly for untuned vocals, but it still has me wondering overall if thatll stay the same way... i wish the demos could display all ranges of the voice as it is right now tho, as it would help to know if its just those song or not.
criteria to be a female vocaloid design:
    - your feet have to be pointing in, or your legs are so close together its unrealistic to even stand like that
    - you're somehow floating in mid air for your pose
    - one hand is held close to your face while the other is held out, for no real reason
    - if you need to be read as playful, kick one leg out behind you!
    - if you dont fit one of those, at the very least, lean on one hip pointed out. vaguely sexy femininity!
this isnt relevant to the UO thread but i cant shut up about design/composition/flow and miku's art. so heres some more analysis

i'd say miku's hair is a very important part of her design, so showing is well impacts the overall design. and dont get me wrong, i love miku NT's design a lot! and i also like ixima's art! but i think nt's art falls flat in a few ways due to the above. honestly all of miku's poses kinda fall flat after a while... its either "bend her spine and make her float!" or "um she's standing and her hair is being blown around in a perfect curve!" there sooo many other neutral, cute poses i could think of that i would love to see rather than just. Standing with her arms waving around.

@lIlI oh yes i definitely dont doubt the connection between simple, cute, beauty and the way miku (and many other female anime characters) are posed... i noticed on miku, the feet pointing inward on every single one, and most certainly other designs too. its a shame its no doubt a wider problem than just miku, because its unlikely any of the above will ever change lest people stop sticking to strict feminine ideals. even with some vocaloid designs who's feet dont happen to point inward (ex. v3 flower), their legs are often soooo close together, creating a very delicate, feminine pose. its so often no personality being shown, just simple and feminine by streotypical societal standards.

its so painful because i just went to the "female voice" category of a vocaloid wiki to take a look and like, click on literally any of them and you get two options: 1) legs pressed together real close with feet inwards or 2) legs close together but one is kicked outward, because shes playful!
lmao, thats it! no doubt i even take this stuff into mind when drawing cute/soft/feminine characters, often doing the inward pointed feet or close legs... but god, its all you get with female anime designs, its annoying.

Frankly what I want to see is a female vocal synth doing the Slav squat, to counterbalance it :fukase_lili:

The Miku V3 English Design scared me to death when I was 12
oh i just heard that the article the emvoice creator wrote where he shat on vocaloid has been taken down :^) how funny. sadly it seems it wasnt backed up anywhere like way back.... heres the url, but i wish i could find it saved somewhere

@BlueJ oh yeah, no problem lol. the exact link wasnt saved but there is SO much on Medium im not sure how to navigate its loads of articles to possibly even find a hint of it somewhere.

Damn, did nobody quote it on the EmVoice thread? If I'd had known in the future it would disappear, I would have saved it in some way lol.

@Blue Of Mind i know some folk definitely talked about it (it was linked in the emvoice thread) and some people on twitter linked it and spoke of it, but sadly it seems no one took screenshots or quoted/copied it anywhere :/ im glad the site says the author deleted it himself, but thats all we got now aside from tweets and forum talk discussing it!
i guess i still am on the Emvoice email list cuz i just got an email and i guess their male voice is out now, also for demo
and goddamn, theyre STILL trying to sell them individually for $200. imagine being so warped u think both of these voices are separately worth that fucking much lmao. embarrassing.

Oh I think you missed understood what I was saying. Was trying to say I it looks bad when you can get avanna for $50. But I think when you compare it to vsts and other virtual instruments it makes sense.

Something like realivox blue that's $150
Shevannai Voice of Elves that's also around $150

    morrysillusion
@Prism i can see what youre saying totally, but it still doesnt make it right or understandable when every other vocal synth out there has a price that is better anyways. of course lotsof VSTs are expensive, many going beyong $300 even. just because it can be $200, doesnt mean it should be. mostly when it comes down to quality and missing tools.

@patuk @morrysillusion I think there must have been a price drop like Morry mentioned, because now she is only 109$ for me on the store. I remember looking at her earlier this year and seeing 190$, so something must have happened.
its nice to be able to see a bit more about Cevio AI now, tho i guess my general issue w cevio still exists- it just sounds so like...fuzzy. that cevio engine noise still seems to be blatantly obvious. i could hear that in Kaf but wasnt sure if it was just mixing or quality issues. though some of the examples in their video kinda... flucuated? a bit? maybe theyre all in different stages of development, idk. or maybe im just being weird lol. so heres to hoping some of that is subject to change my final release. tho i cant expect too much to be wildly different, kinda like the way Miku NT has been sounding ya know. the engine to some extent is set in stone and whatever method is being used seems to lean on that soft/fuzzy sound. though out of all engines ive heard that are in that category, Synth V seems to have improved the most imo
