  • I once not really fond of homebrew AI voicebanks, mainly because of the usability, but now people are making it more usable than ever and I was like 🤯 this is what I really want.

But yeah, making them is still not as effective as making concatenative voicebanks.
Surprised and disappointed that there are no research whatsoever, let alone a record, about fastest tempo human can sing.

Seems like the sort of thing that some obscure opera singer would have set a record for, at some point in history, that was never publicized. You know? The kind of thing where someone does something amazing, record-breaking. Everyone involved is impressed by it but no one thinks to say anything about it to the wider world; even the person who did it. So it never gets recorded by history.

I remember once something about Eminem's rapping but about singing fast ? No idea, maybe we could look at some utaite, and even not sure they would be the fastest e<e
One of the essence of AI is to mimic, or precisely, reflect human beings. If an AI is racist, it's the human that is racist. If an AI can't sing in extreme tempo, it's the human that can sing in extreme tempo.

tbf i'd say it depends for the tempo, an AI learns from humans but can also artificially end up doing stuff not physically possible an AI kind of "approximates" an estimation to act based on it to have an idea of what's the "correct" way to do it but when set to do something it won't always do it as expected

I sometimes say: Technology isn't good or bad, it merely holds a mirror up to humanity.
I never want to shop online, never will be. I would rather shop face to face with the goods directly present in front of me. I/you thought that I'm not an e-commerce platforms' target audience, but that's wrong. I still get bombarded by those platforms' ads everywhere I go. Also the same with cigarette ads.

Well we need to rethink about "if you're not the target audience then shut up" statement–a statement I ever said frustratingly. It's not me or you, it's the goods/services' producers that can call whether or not a person/demography is their target audience.

The correct statement should be "if you don't like a thing, just moving on".

I don't know why, but reading this I was feelin' some lyrics somewhere in there:

    online shopping I'll always refuse
exchange face to face with the goods in view
they hit me with ads, but it's all a ruse
I tell'em, "no thanks, that just won't do."

they target me still, and peddle me cigs
"but shut up if it's not a thing you're wantin'"
marketers, makers all doing their schtick

I say, "move on if you're not into it."
People: We lose our accent when we sing.

Virtually any person involved in voicesynth community/industry: No, we didn't.

The tensed/relaxed theory is simply not the case, and so the "neutralness" one. How can we judge if speaking accent is tensed and singing one is relaxed, or this accent is heavy or implying that particular one is the most neutral?

Sure this accent thingy has something to do with phonology, but it largely depends on whether or not a person can pronounce certain phonemes/features.

Also this accent-losing belief is only biased to certain language culture (people in other language culture did show their accent when singing), and alienate the non-natives.

If you "lose" your accent when singing: no, you didn't, you deliberately thrown away your own accent and singing in yet another one.

Just remembered that Windows 11 was officially released.

I still remember that the og Utau works within the leaked build. I wonder if it's still the case in terms of the official build? Asking for a friend.
Got a first dose of Covid vaccine, and I really regret it. The "it barely hurts" and "it would be worth it" narratives are just utter lies. It, is, painful, as hell. I really hate it.

It never lasts long thankfully. It’s not painless by any means (and whoever says so is a liar), but that pain goes away in due time.

I'm sorry you're having such a severe reaction :( That wasn't my experience. Feel better soon

Yeah, at least based on my own experience, I wouldn't have called the shots painful, but they're not painless, either. For me, the second was worse than the first, I think because I was more tense that time (Not the shot's fault; if anything, I was more relaxed about that. It was work and other life stuff. I think the stress makes the muscles more tense, and getting the injection into a muscle then is a more painful experience.), and the person who gave me the shot seemed a bit less gentle than the first. Sort of like @MillyAqualine, my side effects were worse the second time, too--more tired than the first time, and had flu-like joint/muscle aches. The arm ache went away within a few days, though, and the flu-like side effects disappeared in about a day, so hopefully they should pass for you soon.

Thank you so much for getting vaccinated!
