Question Good Free Compressors for Mac?

An issue I've been running into lately is that the compressor I use for mixing causes a lot of overemphasis on the consonants, especially the k's and t's. I know it's not the EQ because I haven't messed with the frequencies that contain the consonants. I've been using the default compressor that comes with Garageband, but it lacks one feature of other compressors: release/decay.

Anyone got any suggestions?

You may find it better to manually edit the plosives with a wave editor that features non-destructive editing. Audacity can do this with its envelope tool. It's a bit fiddly at first, but once you get used to how much reduction is needed it goes by much faster.

Plosives are really easy to see when looking at the waveform.
