V6 AI (specifically Fuiro) tuning tips?

I've been trying to learn how to tune Fuiro in V6, but every time I use her in a cover her voice sounds strained almost, and any adjustments I make to her either A. make it worse by making her voice all wonky or B. Don't do anything at all. She's meant to be a powerful bank, but when I use her it sounds raspy and falsetto-ish. I know that she can be tuned well because I've seen really great covers with her but as a beginner, there's really no resources on how to tune the AI banks specifically.

You can hear what I'm talking about a bit here (Mainly in the chorus):

GekiyakuV has this issue in my other cover, but at least with her, for some reason it was a lot easier to tune her to sound unique:

I get that a lot with Gumi. She ends up sounding raspy and strained, so I'm also interested in any pointers.

What I have found out from my own experimentation is that a lot of it is from the automatic application of overdone pitch curves and vibrato. In particular, that weak and "wavery" sound is vibrato it inserts where it doesn't need to be. And a lot of the raspiness and weird vowel blah happens when big pitch bends get inserted in the middle of words.

If you open the note inspector and just drag all of the pitch and vibrato stuff down to zero, you'll end up with the equivalent of Vocaloid 4 with no tuning in pitch-snap mode. If you reset to that, and slowly introduce the pitch transitions until it sounds good, the result seems to be a lot better than trying to work backward from the default.
