Yes, one of the designers of this version of the harp is my boyfriend.
It's perfect for Miku's futuristic spirit.

Yes, it's a fairly rare instrument to see, which is why we usually set up a harp demonstration stand at the same time as the concerts for people who want to try it :)

Obviously the harp produces MIDI to invoke the Miku. Are they just note on/off events when the beams are obstructed, or do things like the height of the hand give you other parameters?

Yes, you have Note On, Note Off, the hand height can modify a parameter like LFO, filter pitch etc but not used here, and there's another mode (toggle mode) to control a groovebox ;). and there's visual effects like color changing, vibrating beam, color delay.
A pedal board normally control the playlists and patches stored in the harp controller but here it's fully automated by Cubase with a midi remote box made by my boyfriend.
