Your UTAU pet peeves

Post here what you find annoying about the UTAU software, external stuff like voicebanks, resamplers and plugins or the UTAU community in general.
RULES:
  1. Always make reasonable critiques. As such, do not post things like "Vocaloid is far superior than UTAU" or "This voicebank sucks because it's CV/VCV/CVVC/VCCV/etc."
  2. No name-calling, personal insults, witch-hunts and whatnot. If you have issues with somebody, do not post their names
So, here are my UTAU problems:
  • The fact that UTAU for Unix is not released yet (and will probably require JRE instead of OpenJDK)
  • The stupid glitches that UTAU produces under Wine (like timing issues)
  • The fact that I have to modify my UTAU configuration every single time if a voicebank I want to use is not compatible with presamp (due to those timing issues)
  • When UTAU forgets your CV values
  • When you're making a UST and UTAU decides to hang or crash
  • When VCVs sound obviously artificial
  • TOSes on reclists

For your critique on the system hanging and crashing have you considered maybe giving priority to UTAU in the processor on your computer? From what I understand in my A+ training books, by selecting this for a program it will force the computer to focus more on UTAU and the rendering than other background programs.

Anyways I think my one main complaint with UTAU now a days (This is coming from someone who use to loathe UTAU for very dumb reasons) is that it is still very difficult to figure stuff out since it basically being thrown into the deep end. I have been looking into Aspairing (?) english because of how nice and realistic they sound, but good lord is the source information like trying to read legal text documents at times. Also I still don't like how if you want to change the timing one thing in UTAU it shifts everything. I kinda wish there was like a hold or freeze setting where you can move around just one section without it messing everything up.

edit: Oh and also the fact you still have to switch over your pc to Japanese kinda bugs me but whatever it is a Japanese program so I can't really complain I suppose.

Tbh UTAU is an outdated synthesiser and should be treated as such, having gone without a real update for 5 years. It's okay to use but could definitely be better. My main pet peeve with UTAU tends to be when adding notes/etc manually you have to set the mod/etc, which gets tedious when you're converting to VCCV...

It does kind of make me wonder if there is going to be an UTAU 2 or if another voice synthesizer will over take it on the freeware side.

oh same. But I'm assuming that it's going to be available for at least Windows as well.
