As if they never make any good decisions.

Well, companies definitely realize they did stupid stuff all the time and reverse it. So, encouraging?

@mahalisyarifuddin I mean I'm not saying Yamaha never makes good decisions. I love Vocaloid, I'm ride or die at this point. But just everything regarding V5 baffles me. Why is it so expensive? Why bundle it with 4 voicebanks you can't get the editor without? Why cut off V2 support when the voicebanks work inside it fine, if you're using the cracked version (I don't know this by experience, but I woe on the daily that I can't put Tonio in V5). I like V5, I bought the premium! But it blows my mind that the same company that made Cyva and Cyman (high quality English banks, and Cyman's consonant cluster behavior was a really impressive and unique step forward) made Amy and Chris (questionable behaviors, pinched tones, strange consonant variations and awkward vowels, that sound worse in plug n plays than Cyva and Cyman do).

Again, I do love Vocaloid. Sorry if this seems like a rant. But something has to be wrong, doesn't it? It's so quiet. It's been over a year now and aside from the V5 defaults, we've had a whole 3 new banks. The OG companies have all apparently backed out. Even Crypton's been pretty mum. I'm not on the "Vocaloid is dead!!!1!1" train, but I am confused and concerned.

@DefiantKitsune Very true!! I totally disagree with the people who beat the old 'Vocaloid is dead omg gais' horse. It's not like there couldn't be a comeback! But I think Yamaha needs to figure some things out, and I wish them the best if they (hopefully) still care about Vocaloid. And seeing as how Vocaloid is a very minor part of their revenue, I get why they might not, tbh :(

-The bundled voicebanks were probably because previously, paying 100$ for an editor you can't use for anything by itself turned some potential customers off.
-I hate to say it but at this point supporting v2 would likely cause unexpected problems. Software has an expiration date.
-tbh I think Amy is quite a bit better of a default voice than Cyva but that's me personally
-We also had a whole new 3 new banks in the year leading up to v5 (not counting moke and qingxian, who launched in the v5 era).....and the ones who weren't Akari kinda flopped
