Like, coming from someone who has love the everloving shit out of Synthesizer V since it was announced and has been excited for SVR2 through everything, this is just a bad announcement. I think the worst they will do in this regard for a long time is retire the V3 voicebanks when they get their NTs, since they'll be getting pretty old by that point. V3 hasn't been the main software for VOCALOID for 5 years now!
