Hasn't this been considered a problem since the V3 era of Vocaloid? Because I remember people complaining about V3 voicebanks sounding too "samey" back in the day (though the routine glut of releases didn't help.)
Going back on topic, is it just me or does Karin's SynthV sound a bit like ONE?
I feel the same way regarding German. People are too quick to dismiss it as too "angry/harsh" sounding when it can sound stunning in different contexts.
I think some elements of the Crypton formula are still around today (knee to thigh high socks and boots, detached sleeves, a general futuristic vibe etc.), but on the whole, I'm glad companies are trying out new character designs that break away from the Crypton/Miku mold.
I know I'm going off-topic now, but speaking as a new research student in History, I can attest that competitiveness/a "sink or swim" attitude is prevalent everywhere in academia nowadays, not just Science or the rest of STEM. The same pressure to churn out new research is sadly also common...
Maghni is clearly still in alpha, so I'm not surprised the current samples sound like that. Though I do agree it does bring to mind 'I Feel Fantastic'. ^^;
I don't use any streaming services, and iTunes isn't reliable if you check the number of plays tab, because I listen to music in a certain order. (It's something related to my autism - kinda weird/hard to explain). So I'm basing my list on how many albums I own by certain artists. This isn't in...
I agree that death has become a cheap excuse to write out characters in modern media. And that's not even counting the moments where characters die for a bit, only to be brought back later.
I found Miku by accident while browsing YouTube and just clicking on random videos on the sidebar. One of them was 'Melody.exe' and since I was already an established trance fan (even at age 11 - I was one of the 'weird' kids who legitimately liked electronic music when it was still a bit...
I'm still not sure/confused what exactly Hippi is intended to be in relation to IA and ONE (a fellow vocal synth, or a VTuber with a human VA?), but considering she's associated with two voice synths, I'm just assuming she will get a VB somewhere down the line.
Hearing Hippi's VP's English, is there a chance that Hippi might get an English VB later?
I'm also disappointed with CeVIO IA's cuter tone, but I don't hate it. As long as 1st Place don't pull a Kafu and prevent users from changing CeVIO's equivalent of gender factor, I can lump the default...
I'd kinda dismissed Iku when writing up my post since she was clearly aimed at a niche crowd. I was thinking more along the lines of "mainstream" (i.e. general purpose) voice synths.
I can't really think of any synths that would allow banks explicitly aimed at the R18 crowd anyway. Wouldn't that normally be considered bad PR for an engine? But not CeVIO apparently lol.
I think we now live in a period on both the internet and within the anime fandom where people have become a lot more sensitive to issues like loli/shota, gore, etc., speaking as someone who can still remember the old stereotype of all anime being hyper-violent and sexual, to the point Mystery...
If there's any consolation, and it's easy to tell in this thread, lolicon (and shotacon by extension, because HOO BOY I can easily discuss the creepy shit surrounding VBs like Len, Piko and Fukase) has been increasingly marginalised within the wider Western anime fandom over the last decade...
Yeah, I'm not gonna follow this project for the very obvious, problematic reasons that have been raised. I swear CeVIO is becoming a cursed engine at this point.
This is why I don't own a single Vocaloid despite being a fan for so many years - aside from not being musically inclined in the slightest, I'd also feel guilty about turning an expensive piece of software into a dust-covered paperweight. If I'm paying a lot of money for something, I have to get...
