How do I hardsub a video?

Well, if anyone's curious, here's my progress:

Avidemux crashes.

VLC has a known issue with the hardsub feature not working, at all

Format Factory can do it, but is known to have security issues.

I know this is an old thread, but I'll reply anyways in case someone stumbles upon it through a google search or something. (I know I had a hard time finding the answer myself.)
The only options I know of aside from the ones already mentioned are FFmpeg (which destroys the audio quality for me) and Kdenlive (video editor with native support for hardsubbing and Aegisubs subs). Hopefully this helps someone... somewhere...
