Vocaloid 2 is known for its iconic sound. Newer singing synthesis software has gotten more realistic, but many people (including myself) like the specific sound of Vocaloid 2 specifically. However, the actual Vocaloid 2 software is very old and cannot be purchased anymore. Additionally, no new voicebanks can be made for it. For this reason, I am wondering if there is any open-source project that attempts to replicate its iconic sound.
I have been searching quite extensively, however I have only been able to find the following:
- There was a project called "Rocaloid" that seems to be close to what I am looking for. Unfortunately, it seems like it was only ever partially finished and has not been developed in over a decade. Rocaloid Development Team
- Second, I was able to find something called "MaddeLoid". Unfortunately it too was never finished. My first LV2 plugin « tobias_platen's blog
- Finally, I was able to find this series of blog posts by someone called QueueSevenM. I am not sure whether they are trying to make something like Vocaloid or do something else. I also haven't been able to find any released software, at least not yet. On the other hand, this one is from a few months ago and seems to be actively being worked on. Recreating the Excitation plus Resonance Model
