VOCALOID Vocaloid song performed at the New York Philharmonic to the surprise of the NY Times

The Nightcap program, hosted by the violist and new-music specialist Nadia Sirota, demonstrated the breadth of Mr. Tao’s skills and curiosity. In a nod to Bruckner, he began with his arrangement of the composer’s “Ave Maria” choral motet, utilizing Vocaloid, a synthesizer choir. The voices sounded eerily (yet endearingly) high-pitched, nasal and slippery like a Bruckner motet performed by Alvin and the Chipmunks, embedded in the overall electronic weirdness of Mr. Tao’s music. This was no joke, but rather a young composer’s attempt to reanimate Bruckner through contemporary musical language and technology.

And no, I wasn't able to find any sort of video from that online.

"Alvin and the Chipmunks?"

Well, that's pretty cool, regardless. Maybe they were tuned to sound that way for the sake of effect.

I thought I'd introduce the newest V5 voicebank:

Chip V5

Chip is going to have lots of additional voicebanks to give us plenty of vocal colors to choose from.

There's

And also

And finally

The reclist for Chip is second to none, encompassing 105,700 phoneme samples, including "squeak," "chitter," "hiss," and "eek." 5 varieties of sniffing noises will be included as breath effects for you to choose from.

Please enjoy making marvelous music with Chip V5!

Sadly (or not...), Chip is absolutely not a real Vocaloid. This is a joke.

*sigh* many people outside the fandom/community think that kinda thing about synth female head voices
I would think that this shouldn't be a surprise. The only time i remember another comment like that is from elders/kids react to vocaloid. And me 2. I would say the main sound difference to me is the formant shift on the chipmunks tho.

I asked him, and Conrad doesn't have any footage of it, but he's checking to see if anyone else has any. He also said he used Miku V3 English, so that explains the 'chipmunk-ness'.

Edit: Here are the phonetics he used:
