The platform is designed around a constant production of low-effort click-bait. Rapid-fire content meant to distract and sensationalize. That's why I've never bothered with it. People will watch videos for an hour and then be hard-pressed to summarize anything they saw, because it never penetrated past the short-term memory.

I agree wholeheartedly with this, and I simply can't understand parents who let their children freely use the app. I know there are creepers everywhere on the Internet, but TikTok seems to be the perfect place for some truly nasty people (especially if they still have the "duet" feature that allows anyone to join another person's tiktok). Also, there's the privacy concerns that came out months ago; once the app is installed, well, good luck removing the trackers that came with it. Ick.
