to be clear, most times links are hosted through sites and usually tied to your account- you must be logged in to even use the download link. im not sure why some companies are dropping this or not considering this at all as its more secure than a random google drive link you could toss anyone's way. i get there convenience... but like, if we're gonna complain about software piracy we also gotta address when theres an obvious ease in actually getting it illegally due to a lack of work on the company's part. sure "piracy will always happen" i guess, but if the company isnt taking good measure to stop it i also cannot be surprised
