I'm the furthest thing from an EQ professional, but in my very amateurish opinion the low-end of the voice is fighting with the instrumentation, which prevents the higher end from soaring above everything else. Maybe try playing with your high-pass frequency while the track is playing? I've found that adjusting voice high-pass while listening to everything results in a setting that slightly attenuates the fundamental frequencies. When adjusting this in solo, I'm to worried about creating a telephone affect and I don't cut high enough. But I've found that a slight telephone effect (and I mean slight) helps to lift vocals from the mud. But, again, I'm no expert. And I generally keep my EQ simple because of this.
