Honest opinion? I was too distracted by the piano, which sounded far too robotic for my liking, especially at the end. But then again, I just spent the past few hours doing an RN analysis of the first movement of Beethoven's Tempest sonata, so piano is very much on my mind right now.

@parallax_fifths keeping in mind the vocals weren't made for this version of the instrumental, does this sound any better?

I don't know much about tuning to make things sound realistic, so no advice there.

In the piano version I found the levels were too low, and in the other version it needed fader automation when the "orchestra" became fuller.

To make the voice stand out a bit more, you could try slapback delay. This is a common technique for "real" vocals, but whenever I try to use slapback on synthesized voices it just makes any annoying plosives sound even worse (although normal delay is okay). Perhaps FL plugins are to blame, or maybe I'm to blame, or maybe SynthV is to blame, or maybe your cats are to blame. Only Miku knows for sure.

If you do try a delay effect, slapback or otherwise, place it on a send so the level can adjusted to make it decorative and not in-yer-face. There's tonnes of online information on vocals and delay, if you're interested.

Because I've failed so miserably at slapback, I've resorted to Doubler by waves. It has an ugly, tiny interface, but it works. I use it as a send, and pretty much rely upon the same presets again and again. Try before you buy.

Your mileage may vary.

I’m going to be honest: even after some research, I have no idea what any of that means. Remember, I’m very stupid. 😅

Is fader automation just lowering the volume when it gets fuller? I did that in Audacity when slapping this together, but I was rushing and didn’t really do it thoroughly.

I’ll research slapbacks some more. Forgive my idiocy.
