You have to switch the mode and can't simply type a period, you have to right click the note itself > Convert to phonemes (makes a small white lyric word appear underneath the note box to show you it is working correctly). Just writing a period in an unconverted note box is "fake" and is just a lyric with a period in it (and there are no periods in arpabet).

I had converted to phoneme first, and when that didn't work tried just starting with a period... figured it understood what I meant since when I tapped enter it got rid of the period and put the phoneme in between the slashes... but maybe I did it wrong! It was quite late. I'll post a picture in the SV thread later if I haven't fixed it by then. Thank you! :)
