Other Cryptonloid voicebank updates, collabs, & concert news (crypton_wat Twitter translations)

It might be the case that other companies' VBs aren't supported right now, but Crypton might be planning to license out the Piapro Studio VB software to other companies in the future.

VOCALOID What's Wrong with the Western Community of Vocaloid?

I like Vocaloid memes (aside from the offensive/gross shit, of course). I never even knew people got butthurt over them. (And apparently, Vocaloid comedy songs are fine while traditional meme formats are an affront to Queen Miku's honour.) I find it hypocritical that the Miku...

VOCALOID Where to download the V4 editor?

I agree with the external disc drive idea - I have one for music CDs so I can rip them to iTunes. I don't think you get a free digital copy of any Vocaloid software if you buy the physical version, and only Internet Co. is selling V4 now (but only in bundles with their Vocaloids, I think)...

The problem here is that his VP is GACKT, who is super-famous in Japan and probably costs a bomb for Internet Co. to get him in to record. I think GACKT knows English, but considering any high costs to create JPN banks from him as it is, and English banks take a longer time to develop, Internet...

    General Project Diva Discussion

I thought a limited edition Project Diva Switch was more likely, but a turquoise Switch/Mega39's bundle might be just as probable.

I love the turquoise Switch Lite! It reminds me so much of Miku (in fact, you could easily stick some Miku decals on it and turn it into an unofficial Miku Switch), but I already have the original Switch so I'm not planning on buying a Lite model.

I'm interested in how they might be integrating the Joy-Cons into the gameplay. Since the translation mentions the Switch's portability, I'm assuming the game will work in both docked and handheld mode, but some modes might be exclusive to docked mode. (It mentions that Easy Mode requires Joy-Cons.)

As a Switch owner, I'm beyond excited! I'm hoping for a localisation, but if not, at least I can import because the Switch is region free.

    General Project Diva Discussion

I'd love to see a Switch Diva game, but so far they've only put the Mirai spinoff on 3DS. If Sega were to make a Miku game on Switch, it would probably be a new spinoff title because the Diva buttons correspond to the Playstation controller's buttons, and I wonder if people would be too confused...

Does Edit Mode only support MP3, or in theory could it support alternative audio formats like AAC (the standard on iTunes and whatever the music side of it will be called soon, thanks to Apple trying to kill iTunes), FLAC (the favoured codec among audiophiles), OGG, WAV (Windows' lossless...

VOCALOID IA appeared on Forever 21's shirt for Men

Some fast fashion brands have a really bad habit of stealing artwork from other sites, including indie artists. Urban Outfitters and Hot Topic are guilty of the same thing as Forever 21.

Anime is still sadly an obscure thing in the UK, even though it's just as much of a mainstay in British nerd and convention culture as it is in the US. People don't pay attention to any anime more intelligent than Pokemon. So if you were like me growing up in the 2000s, good luck finding any...

    Your Favorite Merch

I forgot to mention this in my original post, but I also have a Miku keychain hanging on my bedroom corkboard. It used to hang off my actual house key, then I moved it to a zip handle on my backpack, and now it lives on my board. My office's dress code is pretty much "use your common sense"...

I own figures, two Vocaloid manga (Hatsune Mix and Mikubon), a Miku art book, one Hachune Miku plushie, one poster and some Project DIVA/Mirai games, as well as Megpoid: The Music (does anyone remember that game?). Years ago, I would have been into clothes and accessories too, but since I'm...

    how ded is this place

The lack of news for V5 is a huge part of the problem. When there's no big news in general about Vocaloid, the forum goes dead. The Stage subforum is fairly active every day, however. I'm also currently juggling university and work, so I'm never on here for too long once a day. Add in the...

VOCALOID What you like in a Vocaloid and what makes it a financial success...

I'd like to counter that many cutesy/generic VBs released nowadays don't tend to make a lasting impression among both the Japanese and Western fandoms. Otomachi Una leaned cutesy but after some brief hype she was forgotten about. (Yes, I know she has diehards fans. Don't throttle me!) Mirai...

VOCALOID What you like in a Vocaloid and what makes it a financial success...

I'd say Miku achieved popularity because she had a full body avatar that utilised trypical moe traits and had some kind of backstory (even though neither the fandom nor Crypton follows it anymore). Both these and her VB endeared her to NicoNico's otaku community. The previous Vocaloids released...

How Alive is the Vocaloid Fanfic Scene?

I don't go on FanFiction.Net anymore, but back when I used to be really active on there (pre-2013/14; basically any time before I started college), I was always disappointed/annoyed with the types of Vocaloid stories being posted on FFN (mainly just shipping stuff and boring high school...

Nearly three quarters of independent musicians struggle with mental health issues according to study

I can't recall which studies I spotted these from, but I've heard people who are more intelligent and/or creative on average have a higher risk of developing mental illnesses. Sadly, this is also true for the Vocaloid fandom - it's no surprise that the songs dealing with mental health are the...

That mentality drove me nuts in the older days of the fandom before there were more English Vocaloids to choose from - it was especially painful in regards to Luka, who had an English VB but it wasn't the best at the time compared to the native English VBs. (Then Miku's English VB dropped for V3...
