I think movie critics crap on most comedy and action flicks because they tend to be formulaic genres. As in, you see one movie using the regular tropes that every other movie beats to death, you've seen them all. That's probably why critics dismiss "crowdpleasers" and "popcorn" movies. Of...
For a while, I didn't realise Tianyi had a different VP fill in some parts of her Japanese VB because the tones between her Japanese and Chinese banks are fairly similar. So long as they don't sound drastically different, using a different VP to help with a separate language bank isn't a...
I was gonna mention CLAMP as well! I would also nominate Naoko Takeuchi for a female voice synth, because I love her art in Sailor Moon, especially the colour illustrations. A design in that style would be amazing.
I like the suggestion of Arina Tanemura - I've been reading the Full Moon manga...
I like the song, but it's making me wish it was sung by a VB other than Kafu - her cutesy voice doesn't fit the background music.
The pitched down version is getting me upset over how Kafu turned out again, because a VB that sounded closer to the original Kaf would have worked with the song a...
This discussion on ages made me remember when I thought both Kaito and Meiko were officially 21 because of random fanon I saw on YouTube... (Officially they have no canon ages, but the fandom tends to depict them as adults, perhaps a bit older than Luka who's officially 20).
I think the only...
It wouldn't surprise me if some unexpected V5 releases come out this year, with reveals that they were supposed to be announced and/or released last year but were pushed back due to Covid. Saying that, I do think Yamaha has been intentionally slowing down on Vocaloid development, and wants to...
I kinda wanna be lazy and say all the Cryptonloids, but I think AI mostly benefits realistic/mature sounding VBs, so I'm gonna say Luka. Yes, I know Piapro NT doesn't support AI and Crypton hasn't talked about AI at all, but it was just an idea I had.
This is a great decision - any potential backers will feel a bit more secure at what they're supporting if they can see a demo. It's also a good sign that VocaTone is listening to the concerns of the vocal synth fandom.
I feel that Cantor fell off relatively quickly because the quality of its VBs were nowhere near as good as Vocaloid at the time. CeVIO stood out because the quality was an audible step up from UTAU (for contemporary comparison), despite the engine noise.
Aside from some mentions that I agree...
I dunno, VBs like Flower, Fukase and Una are pretty popular among the current fandom. Perhaps not always in terms of songs, but certainly in fan content like art.
Crappy Google translation: "Thank you for your many applications for the recruitment of audio production jobs that we announced the other day. We apologize for the delay in replying due to the year-end and New Year holidays, but thank you for your cooperation."
Has Crypton been looking for new...
I've noticed that even in the Spanish vocal synth fandom, they don't really use Bruno, Clara and Maika (I've heard some Latin Americans don't like the European accents the Voctroloids have?) and they tend to stick to Spanish UTAUs. We also all know what happened to SeeU for the Korean fandom...
Speaking as someone who heard a brief demo of Teto on V4 (courtesy of Crypton), I wouldn't support Teto on another engine if her voice would lose what makes her sound recognisably like Teto (much like how Miku is so iconic she sounds like Miku, if that makes any sense lol). If Crypton could pull...
Valid concerns about the project aside, is anyone else worried that VocaTone might be trying to break into a market that's starting to get a bit overcrowded? This is the first period of time I can ever recall Vocaloid actually having some proper competition in terms of quality. SynthV is already...
I agree that the amount of languages listed feels too ambitious for a new synth, but my lizard brain is still getting excited over the idea of German and Russian support (I've given up on Vocaloid adding more languages at this point).
